Congratulations to the ADHA Student Chapter at Owens Community College! 👏

When ODHA Advocacy Day came to the Ohio Statehouse in April, all 23 second-year students made the three-hour trip to Columbus – charter bus fully funded by their own chapter fundraising – to meet face-to-face with Ohio state representatives and senators. One of their own, student member Monika Burkhardt, had already been elected voting delegate to the ODHA House of Delegates, where she took the floor and cast her vote alongside practicing professionals.

But advocacy was just one chapter of their story. Recognized as the largest active student organization on the entire Owens campus, this chapter logged 50+ oral health presentations across preschools, schools, rehabilitation centers and nursing homes – and served 75+ individuals at Tent City, a weekend-long outreach event for those experiencing homelessness in Toledo. Chapter President Emilia D’Amore was selected from the entire college campus as the recipient of the Board of Trustees Award for Extraordinary Community Engagement. These students didn’t wait to make their mark – and we can’t wait to see what comes next! ✨

Congratulations to the ADHA Student Chapter at Virginia Commonwealth University! 👏 From Mission of Mercy clinics and Special Olympics screenings to hygiene kits for children in foster care, fluoride varnish at the YMCA, and telehealth appointments for patients with limited mobility – VCU dental hygiene students went where care was needed and showed up fully.

Back on campus, they showed up just as completely: every member an officer or committee lead, a structured four-month leadership transition pipeline, and 100% chapter attendance at Rally Day at the Virginia State Capitol – white coats, purple scarves and a clear message about protecting their profession. This is what all-in looks like. We can't wait to see what comes next for each of you! ✨

Congratulations to the ADHA Student Chapter at the University of New Mexico Division of Dental Hygiene! 👏 From their very first day in the program, UNM students are active members of their professional association: attending Legislative Day, pursuing Student Delegate roles and presenting research at ADHA's annual conference. By the time they graduate, professional membership isn't a next step, it's already home.

But their impact goes well beyond organized dentistry. UNM students deliver care across school-based clinics, a pediatric hospital unit, and reduced-cost community settings – and collaborate with fellow health profession students on interprofessional education spanning geriatric care, health equity and more. Each spring, their senior class hosts a CE event drawing nearly 100 dental professionals, presenting original literature reviews on topics shaping the field.
