If you, or someone you know, is looking for a rewarding teaching opportunity, Homer School District 33C is hiring a 1.0 FTE Industrial Technology Teacher at Homer Junior High School for the 2026–2027 school year!

📍 Location: Homer Glen, Illinois (Southwest Suburbs of Chicago)

As a teacher at Homer Junior High, I can honestly say it is a wonderful place to work. We have supportive administrators, collaborative colleagues, and great students. Our district values hands-on learning and provides teachers with the opportunity to make a real impact on students every day.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching Industrial Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, Woodworking, Design, or other hands-on STEM and technical education courses to middle school students.

If you’re interested—or know someone who would be a great fit—please consider applying or sharing this opportunity with your network.

The number of images a minute the 5 GigE line scanner can capture is incredible. Limitations to speed are now due more to the speed of the conveyance method. This was definitely not around when I started in industry 30 years ago.

This type of tech is what are students will be heading out into the local manufacturers to design, install, run, and repair.

☀️ Summer STEM Tip for Technology Educators: Recharge Your Curriculum Through Real-World Connections! 🔧⚙️

Summer is a great time for educators in Industrial Arts, Industrial Technology, and Engineering Technology to look beyond the classroom and find inspiration for the next generation of hands-on learning.

As you travel, work on projects, visit local businesses, or tackle everyday problems, look for opportunities to bring authentic STEM experiences back to your students:

🔩 Notice the systems around you — How do machines, tools, structures, and processes work? What could be improved?

⚙️ Capture real-world examples — Take photos, collect ideas, and document problems that can become design challenges, labs, or project-based learning activities.

🤖 Connect industry to instruction — Use summer experiences to strengthen lessons in problem-solving, automation, manufacturing, engineering design, and technical skills.

The best STEM lessons often begin with a simple question:
“How does this work, and how could we make it better?”

Use your summer to gather ideas that will inspire curiosity, creativity, and innovation when students return.

Do you have a great idea for a class project? Consider sharing your idea with all of us as a presenter at the ITEC 2026 conference this October. We will be accepting applications for presenters soon.
