The official numbers are in — we are just $5,000 shy of our goal!

This year's event had a record turnout worldwide, with over 700 people walking in support of the Oltaraja water project. We are so grateful to everyone who came out!

With just 4 days left of this campaign, you can still help. We need $30,000 (so close!) to start phase 1 of the project, which starts with securing permits and locating an aquifer.

Please donate and share at bit.ly/oltaraja — every dollar goes toward this project, which will allow Oltaraja to not only have reliable access to safe water, but also build a primary school for children ages 5-10.

“In Oltaraja, there is one woman who is passionate about the education of young children. Elizabeth is an exemplary woman and influencer within the community. She convinced her husband to give part of their land for the benefit of the children. Through her efforts, she initiated the beginning of the primary school and volunteered to cook lunch for the students. Now, children ages 5-10 years who are too young to walk 8 kilometers to attend school in Olgos, can learn because of the generosity of their community.” — Pastor John Kiroka, Kenya Country Director

Elizabeth is a wonderful example of our motto, “take what you know and do good.”

Let’s follow in her footsteps. There is still time to support Elizabeth’s dream and the Oltaraja water project: bit.ly/oltaraja

Watch THS CEO Kait TenHarmsel on 13 On Your Side talk about the walk tomorrow in support of the Oltaraja community water project in Kenya.

About 4,000 residents in this community do not have reliable access to safe water. Instead they walk on average 6 kilometers a day to seasonal river dams or even further to other communities to bring clean water home.

Walk with us tomorrow so they no longer have to. Bit.ly/6k-for-Water to sign up!

You can walk from wherever you are, or if you’re local in West Michigan, join us in Holland or Douglas. Fun family activities to follow including an artisan market at Woosah Art and Coffee in Douglas and face paint, taco truck, and ice cream at BLVD Church in Holland.

Meet Yasya.

She is a volunteer and ambassador with The Humanity Share from Philadelphia. Saturday will be her 17th time participating in the walk — wow!

Hear from Yasya herself about why she keeps coming back to volunteer:

"I am someone who needs to see immediate results as an incentive for me to continue. Over 17 years, I have witnessed villages gain access to clean water, children enter school and graduate with greater resources, and women and their families obtain more economic opportunities. I play a small but mighty role in these real successes."

Join Yasya and the rest of us this Saturday! bit.ly/6k-for-Water

In just 4 days, people from around the world will gather to walk 6 kilometers — the average distance rural Kenyans walk for water each day.

It's not too late to join us! Even if you don't live nearby, you can walk in your own neighborhood or on a treadmill or simply donate to support Oltaraja's water project.

Last chance to join this year's !

You walked with us last year in support of this water project in Olgos, completed in February. Head Teacher Elijah shares how important this project is to the Olgos community. But access to clean water near this school impacts more than just their own community.

Nearby, Oltaraja children walk the 8km to school in Olgos. The lack of access to safe water in their own community means longer walks, less time in school, and more danger and stress.

This year’s walk will support Oltaraja’s own water project and their new primary school, which started in 2024 for children too young to walk to Olgos.

We can’t wait to hear from Oltaraja next year as the water starts flowing!!

Join us on Saturday to walk 6k in support of this project, so they no longer have to. bit.ly/6k-for-Water

There is just something special about showing up in person, isn't there?

One of our favorite parts of the Holland event is the opportunity to introduce big issues to little kids. As they feel the weight of the water their peers in Kenya carry each day to school or home, you can see their minds open as they try to carry it 100m (a fraction of the distance).

We love hearing from parents about the questions their kids had and the conversations around the dinner table that night. It’s the one event each year that allows families to make a difference together.

You can be there too! Register: bit.ly/6k-for-Water
