ALSO (Alliance of Local Service Organizations) Violence Prevention Organization However, violence is pervasive and spans beyond the streets. Today, ALSO works both locally and nationally to end violence.

ALSO’s Story:
Incorporated in 1998, ALSO was created to coordinate services for youth and families in the Logan Square community on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Becoming aware of the devastating impact of community violence on those families ALSO began to take action by implementing prevention programs to end street violence. In 2007, ALSO expanded its violence prevention and intervention efforts to include intimate partner violence. By working to end violence more broadly, ALSO began to see connections between violence on the streets and violence in the home. By expanding its reach, ALSO informs its national work from a local perspective and brings knowledge and best practices from around the country to our neighborhoods in Chicago. ALSO’s Values:

It is officially Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our team at ALSO wanted to detail a brief history surrounding this month and share our fundraiser for this year, every proceed will go towards helping a survivor of domestic violence in our community.

Join us for ALSO’s 31st Annual Walk for Peace today in Humboldt Park as we come together for peace, healing, unity, and community. ✨

This year is especially meaningful as our very own Jorge Guerrero leads the march for the first time, continuing the powerful legacy of Orlando Cintrón “Fro,” who has helped lead and organize this walk for so many years. THANK YOU, Fro, for your dedication, leadership, and love for the community. 💙

Thank you to the Noah's Ark Foundation under Joakim Noah, Coach Tamala Doby, Lance Barnes of ALSO, and all the young women who attended (plus a couple of young men supporters) for a great night at the Bulls game last night! The purpose is to build interest, skills and community for young women through basketball, and we are off to a great start!
