ALSO (Alliance of Local Service Organizations) Violence Prevention Organization However, violence is pervasive and spans beyond the streets. Today, ALSO works both locally and nationally to end violence.

ALSO’s Story:
Incorporated in 1998, ALSO was created to coordinate services for youth and families in the Logan Square community on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Becoming aware of the devastating impact of community violence on those families ALSO began to take action by implementing prevention programs to end street violence. In 2007, ALSO expanded its violence prevention and intervention efforts to

include intimate partner violence. By working to end violence more broadly, ALSO began to see connections between violence on the streets and violence in the home. By expanding its reach, ALSO informs its national work from a local perspective and brings knowledge and best practices from around the country to our neighborhoods in Chicago. ALSO’s Values:

• Oppression is the foundation that supports violence

• Government and community are equally responsible to solve issues of violence

Thank you to the Noah's Ark Foundation under Joakim Noah, Coach Tamala Doby, Lance Barnes of ALSO, and all the young women who attended (plus a couple of young men supporters) for a great night at the Bulls game last night! The purpose is to build interest, skills and community for young women through basketball, and we are off to a great start!

Last night, our very own Alexia Roman represented ALSO on the panel at the Reimagining Public Safety Town Hall in Austin! 💙💛

Alexia spoke powerfully about the need to support the RIFL Act, which calls for holding firearm manufacturers accountable for the public costs of gun violence. Her voice added important perspective and helped push the conversation toward real, community-driven solutions.

We’re proud of Alexia’s leadership and her continued commitment to creating safer, more equitable communities in Chicago.
