We join many of our colleagues in praying for Fr. Jim Chepponis. We are forever grateful for his impact on the Church, especially in the countless compositions that will continue to shape our sung prayer.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Fr. James Chepponis.

A composer of many beloved sacred works, Chepponis served the Pittsburgh diocese and his work included providing music for diocesan liturgies, directing the Diocesan Choir, coordinating the Pittsburgh chapter for the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and the Director of Music Ministries Division, and serving as music resource person for parishes throughout the Pittsburgh Diocese.

Eternal rest be granted unto Fr. Jim, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
