Family building should be accessible for everyone.

Join us for a conversation centered on LGBTQ+ family building and the evolving legal landscape surrounding parenthood, fertility care, and advocacy for growing families. Coalition board member Ari Cohen, and Partner at Desai & Miller, Nidhi Desai, will discuss important considerations for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples navigating the family-building journey, while highlighting the value of education, support, and community along the way.

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, honor authenticity, and recognize the importance of inclusive support and representation.

At the Chicago Coalition for Family Building, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate resources, education, and support on their path to parenthood, regardless of identity, background, or journey. We’re proud to support and advocate for inclusive family-building care for all.

Kristin and Jacob, recipients of the Path to Parenthood Grant from the Jewish United Fund – Chicago, look forward to the opportunity to raise a family deeply rooted in their Jewish culture, tradition, and values. 💛

Since meeting at a Shabbat dinner, faith and community have been central to their lives, and they hope to share that foundation with their future child through meaningful traditions, Shabbat dinners, and time with loved ones.
Kristin and Jacob are excited for the journey ahead as they continue building their family together.

Join us next week, May 21, for a virtual seminar in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. 💛
This conversation will focus on the connection between infertility and mental health, led by Coalition board members Ari Cohen and Lauren Ratliff. Ari brings personal experience as a grant recipient, while Lauren offers professional insight from her work in prenatal and maternal mental health.

Together, they’ll share perspectives, guidance, and support for those navigating the emotional side of the family-building journey. We welcome anyone looking to learn more, feel supported, or be part of the conversation.

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that family building is more than a physical journey—it’s an emotional one, too.
At the Coalition, we support individuals and families through every step of building a family, and we recognize the mental health challenges that often come with it. Fertility and family building can bring hope and excitement, but also grief, uncertainty, identity shifts, and a deep sense of isolation that isn’t always visible.

These experiences are often left out of the conversation, even though they are central to the process. Mental health isn’t separate from family building—it’s part of it.
This month, we’re focused on awareness, connection, and making sure no one feels alone in what they may be navigating.

Keep an eye out for our May 21 webinar where we’ll explore this conversation more deeply and talk through the emotional side of family building.
