AAPD Foundation AAPD Foundation is a dentist-led charity that supports community-based access to dental care for kids

Tooth decay is the most common infection among American children – it is five times more common than asthma and seven times more common than hay fever. Children with oral infections, cavities and pain not only suffer from specific dental health maladies, their condition can lead to other systemic health issues, malnutrition from lessened ability to chew, and school difficulties caused by pain and distraction. HSHC is committed to supporting dentist-led, community-based programs providing care for underserved children.

For one Texas mom, finding dental care for her kids meant months of searching and costs she couldn't afford. Then she found CommuniCare, an AAPD Foundation grantee.

Within a week, her kids were seen and treated. Now her son loves brushing his teeth, and she finally has a dental home she can count on.

September is National Gum Care Month, a reminder that oral health is about more than teeth! Gum disease in children is often overlooked, underdiagnosed, and undertreated, particularly among kids who already face barriers to care.

😁Up for grabs: One-year grants of up to $30,000
🗓️ Deadline: September 18, 2026

Grants fund anything directly linked to a child/children receiving dental care - salaries, equipment, education materials, travel and transportation costs, or take-home supplies, to name a few.
