As you may know, Yi is in need of a liver transplant. We found out that he has liver cancer in august last year. And he is currently waiting for a match with a living liver donor, and that is the only chance he has to be cured.
We are pursuing a living liver donor for many reasons. The wait for a deceased liver is indefinite no matter which hospital we are working with. Also, Yi has a really small window to do the surgery before the cancer cells spread onto his other organs, and that would means he will lose his lace chance. So Yi and I would like to fight till the very end to pursue this only chance of him being cured from cancer.

Below are his newest updates:

1. Yi started a new round of chemo yesterday, and the good news is the blood test result come back looking normal, meaning everything is still under control. He will have a CT and a MRI scan on November 9th to check if there is any changes in the tumor.

2. His hand foot syndrome (extreme dry skin, peeling, cracking and other inflammation) from chemo got worsened a little, and the hospital is considering stopping/ pausing his medication, but this means increasing risk in keeping his cancer under control.

3. In the past 2 weeks, we’ve been getting a lot of help from a lot of people as our story being shared and spread on social media, and through words of mouths. It includes people from the medical world or has connections with the medical experts sending us advices, introducing us to also reach out to hospitals and doctors that are worldly renowned for treating liver disease (especially when it is from the spread of colon cancer). We got so much for insights and more faith from learning from from theirs professional aspect.

4. The good news is, we have several donors that reached out to us who are willing to donate. We are extremely moved and encourage by that. But to ensure the safety of both the donor and the recipient, there is a long and length screening process, and means the matching rate is quite low. That is why we are still searching for more donors. Please keep on getting the words out for us. And don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you’re still considering donating. We can still use your help!

5. The Northwestern Hospital has a lot of delay in theirs screening process due to theirs policies and restrictions from the insurance. If you are a donor, and have been reaching out to the hospital (through phone calls and emails) but haven’t gotten a response back, please reach out to us directly through email, Instagram DM. If you already submitted the form and questionnaire to the hospital, they might follow up with you to schedule you a physical exam. Please keep an eye on that and try to schedule the exam as soon as possible in order to win some more time with us. Thank you so much for your love and support.

6. If you do not wish to be a donor, but still want to help us spread the words, we will appreciate it just as much! We've created a FB page and a website to spread the word out. We would really appreciate it if you could follow, share, like the page, and ask others to do the same. The more people who see his story, the greater our chance of finding a match!!!
Here are the links:

That also would be great If you could help spread the word in other ways than through social media, such as religious institution, charity organizations, give the flyer for your friends, family to post on public bulletins (like at Starbucks, places of worship, your gym, etc). I attached the flyer to the email, please feel free to use it.

Again, Yi and I want to express our most sincere gratification for all your help!

Hi everyone. We got a lot of suggestions to put Yi’s blood type out there. He is A type, so both A and O are going to be compatible. We just realized the time left for him might be even shorter. Because in order to have the transplant surgery, he have to stop his chemo beforehand for a considerable amount of time.

The window is closing. If we can’t arrange the surgery for him in 2 months, the cancer will be highly likely to spread onto his other organs, and we will lose this last chance of saving his life. Please help us share, reach out to us now if you’re interested, and put the words out for us. We really appreciate your help 🙏🏼❤️

This is an example of the love and support we got from kind strangers. This has been a long and difficult journey but somehow we are so honor to have met these amazing people. They are the light that shines through this dark tunnel. Thank you TL Henness and thank you all our friends, kind people who make this seems possible. Yi is going to pull through this with your help and we are so hopeful!

We are so lucky to have the option of a transplant plan for Yi after a long evaluation. And we are so lucky that many people are willing to learn about the facts about living liver transplantation. We are working day and night trying to find Yi a donor, and trying to make a difference for this community as well. More people should know about this, how liver regenerate, how the survival rate is and how big the mortality rate is for patients to wait for a deceased donor… please continue help us find Yi a donor! 💪🏼❤️

Just like all of you, we didn’t know anything about “the waitlist” and people on there who are waiting for organ transplant, while theirs lives are on a line. We didn’t know about the living organ donation and how that is doable. How many lives one person can save while not harming theirs own.

But ever since what we went through we also learnt so much about the struggle of thousands of us. And we want to raise awareness no matter if Yi finds his donor or not. One day at a time we can shine light through this dark tunnel, and lives can be saved.

This is a beautiful illustration drawn by our lovely friend ,because there are so little graphics that could be used for this subject matter. She kindly painted this one so more people can use it to find theirs donor or simply spread information.
Love is the theme of all and we really appreciate the love we received.

We received so much outpouring love since we shared our story. We were very hesitant about reaching out for help, but we are so glad we did. Because no man is an island.

Ever since we started looking into finding a donor, we are so moved by how selfless, and how inspiring this community is. We have faith that we will find our miracle.

Yi is also doing his part, he was suggesting that he can help patients like him in need of donors to build their websites. And he also has faith he can survive through this and write more of his story by helping more people in need.

We realized a lot of people are still new with the concept of living liver donor, and we are so grateful that people are willing to learn more about it. The donation of the liver will be partial, and because liver being one of the fastest regenerating organs of our human body, it will grow back to almost its original size for both the donor and recipient.
It is a selfless and angelic act to be a living liver donor, for you give another person a chance of life. For Yi, it is his only chance of life. And we appreciate everyone's effort in this journey.
Please repost, share and help us connect. Thank you so much.

Due to the side effects caused by chemotherapy, Yi is now experiencing the hand-foot syndrome. Hand-foot syndrome causes redness, swelling, blisters, and pain on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.

Yi was referred to dermatology for treatment for two months; however, there was no improvement after all sorts of therapy. Today, he did a blood test to check the amount of vitamin D stored in his body. If there is not enough vitamin D stored in Yi’s body, he will start taking a high dose (200,000 IU) of vitamin D.

My husband is only 31 years old. Over the past two years, Yi has helped thousands of disadvantaged kids to receive affordable online education through their technology.

He is so young, and if he gets a new liver, he will be able to help more and more people. Now Yi is in need of a liver transplant. His best chance is a living liver donor. If you’re interested in seeing if you could be compatible, please call the Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 1-312-695-0340 and say you’re calling for Yi Jia🙏
