A special shoutout to our incredible Membership team on the 2025-26 exec!

Y- your reason to YAB
A- if you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
B- what’s one item on your bucket list?

Nick Stratman
Y- I had a brain tumor as a kid and got treated at Lurie’s so it was a great way to give back while having fun.
A- I think a dolphin would be fun. They’re very social animals and they can just vibe and swim around the ocean. Seems like a good time.
B- Skiing in Japan has been on my list and thankfully I’m going next winter!

Arti Veller
Y - I joined because I wanted to give back to Lurie’s and support a great cause. Also, to meet new friends!
A - Bernese Mountain Dog - Winter is my favorite season, but I hate being cold. All that fur must keep them warm.
B - I’d like to go to an F1 race. (I’ve been binge watching drive to survive)

Feeling so honored by this special recognition at Lurie’s - check out our plaque on the 17th floor!

Y- your reason to join YAB
A- if you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
B- what’s one item on your bucket list?

Lauren Cabot
Y- The cause and the community! Pediatric cancer research is underfunded compared to the leading causes yet is more than worthy of the same efforts. I wanted to get involved with Lurie Children’s to give back to my community while meeting other likeminded people.
A- A dolphin would be fun - I love the ocean and I like how intelligent, free spirited, and social they are.
B- I love traveling so I’d like to visit a new continent with a lot of nature and adventure (and great food!) South America or Southeast Asia are top of list right now!

Grace Burrello
Y- I joined YAB as a way to contribute to an amazing cause that helps impact the lives of the youngest little fighters alongside my fellow YAB members.
A- If I could be an animal, I would be a dolphin. I’d love to explore the ocean with my pod!
B- An item on my bucket list is to travel to every continent!

Noah DeVries
Y - joined YAB because I moved to Chicago in 2024 and wanted to get plugged into a great group of people of all ages in the city outside of my hometown friends and church, and it was evident that the people involved in YAB are passionate and dedicated to raising awareness for such a great cause, and willing to help out the kids at Luries, so I decided to join!
A - I’d say a falcon, being able to fly anywhere at high speeds and never have to think about driving, ubering, or flying commercial ever again would be ideal.
B - Heli-skiing in Alaska would be surreal, specifically in Valdez. Definitely something I’d like to check off the bucket list at some point !! ⛷️

✨ MEET OUR 2025-2026 CO-PRESIDENTS ✨

Y for why you joined YAB
A for your favorite animal
B for a bucket list item

EMILY
Y - Easy - for the kids! Lurie Children’s supports patients and families through some of their toughest moments and I’m proud to be a small part of the hospital’s impact. The amazing people on YAB make it even better!

A - An elephant! They have deep family bonds and a matriarchal society . Plus I went to Thailand in 2019 and got to see them up close - so cool!

B - Switzerland! We planned a trip in 2020 that was cancelled and I’m still dying to go!

JOHN
Y - it’s incredibly meaningful to support a cause that brings hope to kids and families going through tough times. Words can’t describe the feeling one gets from hearing each child’s personal story and knowing that we are here supporting them.

A - a giraffe! They sleep less than 2 hours a day (I would die) and they can run at a top speed of 35mph! 🦒

B - see a volcano erupt. I don’t care if it’s Mauna Loa, Villarrica, Stromboli, or Mount Semeru - I just want to see lava shooting into the air!
