Chester River Chorale Founded in 1999, the Chester River Chorale provides opportunity and inspiration for singers to strive for artistic excellence.

Since its founding in 1999, the Chester River Chorale (CRC) has evolved into an all-volunteer, eighty-five-voice community chorus. The CRC, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, includes members from several counties on the Upper Eastern Shore, with a range of experience from those with graduate music training to church choir members to "shower-stall singers." While some experience in choral singing is desirable, there is no requirement either for an audition or the ability to read music. Members range in age from teenagers to octogenarians and come together because they love to sing, to learn new music, and to enhance their skills. The CRC’s repertoire features classical masterworks and other sacred and contemporary music, including Broadway show tunes, spirituals, folk, pop and contemporary classical. The concert schedule includes A Chester River Holiday, a spring concert, and "Independence Forever" to kick off the annual Chestertown Tea Party Festival. The season also includes participation in the National Music Festival.

River Voices, our auditioned community outreach ensemble, is out and about! 🎶 We were excited to once again perform at the Kent County NAACP branch’s fundraiser banquet to support their Annual Freedom Fund Scholarship on Oct. 3.

Save the date for Friday, Dec. 4, when River Voices will continue the tradition of singing for Chestertown’s “Dickens of a Christmas” festival. Catch them caroling around town (in full Dickens attire! 🎩) and performing on the outdoor High Street stage.

We’re thrilled to announce the inaugural cohort of the Chester River Chorale Choral Scholars! 🌟 Meet Sumaya, Mia, Olivia, and Annabelle, who will be singing with us for the 2026-2027 season across our Aurora and Chester River Chorale ensembles.👋🏼

These four incredibly talented singers were chosen through an audition and interview process and will have the opportunity to participate in mentorship, outreach, and leadership opportunities with the CRC in addition to expanding their choral and musical experience. Welcome, Choral Scholars! 👏👏

We’re baaack! 🎶 We officially kicked off our Fall semester last night, saying hello to old friends and new, eagerly getting a first look at a brand-new concert lineup, and channeling the holiday spirit in September!

A very special shoutout to all our singers in Aurora for giving our new ensemble a go (first photo)!🌟We are more than 30 voices strong and are off to a great start for our inaugural year.

Last but most certainly not least, thank you to our volunteers for keeping everything running in the background for our multiple ensembles, from tracking registrations to assembling piles of impeccably organized music folders. We couldn’t do it without you! 🤗

While we’re excited to welcome all new and returning singers to the Chester River Chorale for our upcoming season…we’re especially looking to continue expanding the ranks of our tenor and bass sections!

In both the full Chester River Chorale ensemble, and our smaller auditioned groups, adding even a few additional singers to these voice parts can make a huge impact. Plus, you’ll be joining sections that are experts in keeping it low key! 😎

Register to sing with the chorale – and if you’re up for the challenge, sign up to audition for Chamber Singers/River Voices: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf_DsWXrh3OlkT7u7qkp3Gw4UI5YgU4tLyosuaBdkhpMgQk3A/viewform?fbzx=-4140295163594548836
