Wishing we could party for the planet every Friday! Did we have a time or what?! 🥳🌍

Major thank you to everyone who made our fifth annual Party for the Planet such a success! We danced with We Are Star Children, honored members in our community, and enjoyed yummy local eats. Best of all, we connected and took ACTION, with over 100 petition signers urging the City of Charlottesville to formerly oppose the NextEra Dominion acquisition! 💥👏

We are so grateful for our community partners, volunteers, incredible sponsors, and of course attendees who partied with us till the end! We can't wait for next year already! 💚

We are gutted and still reeling from City Council's decision last night not to approve the proposed solar PPA project to put solar on City buildings. 💔💔 💔 Thank you to Councilors Breton, Lynch, Jordan, and Newbille for trusting your staff and your community and voting yes last night.

Although we were disappointed by Council's choices, when the time finally came to speak, the community showed UP! ❤️‍🔥 👏 We heard strong comments from dozens of people from various sectors of our community, AND WE SENT A MESSAGE! Richmond is ready to say YES to solar 🌞 and NO 🚫 to giving Dominion more Richmond $$. We are in awe of the solidarity shown last night and are sincerely grateful to everyone who found time to be there and speak out. 🌟

We are unsure what to expect next, but we sincerely hope City Council can find a way to avoid missing this opportunity to put our City on a path to more affordable clean energy and greater energy security across communities in all 9 districts.

🚨🚨 Today is the day of the vote! Come out to City Hall at 6PM and show your support by wearing yellow, orange, or red! We need you to help pack the room to let City council know Richmond cares about clean energy solutions and our climate goals, and that we don’t want to stall on making progress any longer!

Most Virginians are already painfully aware of the energy and climate crisis we are facing, especially if we don’t begin taking big steps to invest in clean energy. Our energy rates and the price of this this technology are going up everyday, meaning we don’t have time for delays or wiggle room to play into the hands of VA’s energy monopoly. Richmond has sat on its hands and missed good opportunities for residents before. Let’s make sure Richmond meets the moment while we still can.

SO great to see folks come out for yesterday's Richmond City Council meeting! 👏🌞 Thank you to everyone who made public comments in support of the project. Yesterday’s committee meeting reiterated that it is not an easy path forward for solar in Richmond. Scroll to see some sunny smiles ready for solar and some of C3's thoughts on the meeting.

We know we can do it, but we need community members to show up and voice their support at full City Council's meeting this upcoming 📣MONDAY (9/28) at 6pm 📣 to bring it over the finish line! Provide public comment to Council and help us pack the room! No prior sign-up required.

📣🚨 Help us pack the room at City Council TOMORROW (9/23)! Richmond has an opportunity to put solar ☀️ on 42 City-owned buildings and save over $19 million on energy costs, and we don't want the City to miss out.

Putting solar on our local fire stations, community centers, libraries, and other public facilities is an exciting chance to help the city save on energy costs and bring the City closer to meeting its climate goals. This is one of the last opportunities to engage and voice your support for this project before the tax credits expire so be sure to show out and bring a friend or 2 (or 10 😉)!

Powerful comments from Eshaan Mital, a C3 Green Teen Alliance member and former intern at Lieutenant Governor Hashmi's energy listening session earlier this month, where he spoke out against the NextEra-Dominion merger and raised growing concerns for Virginians already struggling with energy costs.
