While Virginia weighs whether to approve NextEra’s $67 billion takeover of Dominion Energy, NextEra CEO John Ketchum is at the White House thanking President Trump for his “leadership” on energy issues and boasting about his company spending $1 billion a week on energy infrastructure.

The number of lawmakers speaking out about NextEra’s proposed $67 billion Dominion acquisition is growing. 👀 In an effort led by Virginia Representative Suhas Subramanyam, a dozen lawmakers from seven states today raised concerns about the deal’s potential to raise energy costs for consumers.

Virginia regulators are expected to reach a decison about the deal that would create the world's largest electric utility monopoly by January.
