Sisters Project Peru

Sisters Project Peru Sisters Project Peru is a project aiming to provide healthcare access to the community of Huacahuasi, a rural village in the Sacred Valley of Peru.

Currently, we are raising money to conduct a needs-based survey in order to provide the necessary numbers to the Peruvian government to demonstrate a need for a health clinic. Click on the link in bio to donate!

During past service trips, Sisters Project Peru held educational workshops with the Huacahuasi community. These workshops focused on the importance of dental hygiene and proper brushing practices. 🪥

🦷 Good dental hygiene habits can help fight against a multitude of health issues, such as heart disease, gum disease, and gingivitis, which is why it is imperative that everyone has access to toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental education.

Visit sistersprojectperu.org to learn more about our dental hygiene initiatives or find our service trip application in bio to get involved!

🐟 The Lucky Iron Fish

In Huacahuasi, one issue that much of the community struggles with is Anemia due to the lack of access to iron-rich foods. Alongside the community, Sisters Project Peru suggested the use of the Lucky Iron Fish, a cooking tool which adds additional iron to meals.

The Lucky Iron Fish is a sustainable, long term solution against rising Anemia numbers and gives an immediate increase in iron intake. If you are interested in making a donation to fight against Anemia in Huacahuasi, please visit sistersprojectperu.org or our links in bio to learn more.

Where is the nearest clinic to Huacahuasi?

For people living in Huacahuasi, the nearest clinic is a 3-hour walk to Lares, including the steep, rocky mountains that must be trekked

For someone sickly, elderly, or in dire conditions, it is impossible to endure this walk to the clinic, and for this reason, many people suffer without proper healthcare.

The clinic in Lares supports 11 other communities, meaning they are constantly overloaded and busy. Having a local clinic near Huacahuasi could close medical gaps and provide care to those who need it before situations become emergencies.
