"How can I do the most good?" - Kwame Kennedy, M.D., '26

It's a question that leads most MUSC students and alumni to pursue a career in healthcare.

And it's the same question that leads donors to invest in scholarships for MUSC students.

Scholarships give students the opportunity to turn a calling into a career – and ultimately, to make a difference in the lives of countless patients, families, and communities.

The next generation of physicians will learn here. 🩺

The new home of the MUSC College of Medicine recently reached its highest structural point, a milestone known as topping out.

When it opens in late 2027, this new home will help educate the physicians South Carolina needs now and for generations to come.

We’re proud to celebrate this moment with the donors and friends helping make that future possible. 💙

They wanted to help people. They worked hard. They became doctors. 🩺

As a new class of medical students starts at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) this week, we’re looking back at the Class of 2026 and the moments that took them from students to physicians.

For many, scholarships helped make medical school a little more manageable along the way. 💙

A little behind-the-scenes magic 📸✨

We recently caught up with Rachel Burge, Ph.D., for a photo shoot for our upcoming donor magazine, Inner Circle. Her story is one of persistence, purpose and a deep commitment to improving the lives of patients with pancreatic cancer through research – and we can't wait to share more.

Stay tuned for a closer look at the people and philanthropy driving innovation at MUSC.

A milestone worth celebrating. 🏗️

The new home of the MUSC College of Medicine is taking shape, thanks in part to people who believe in a healthier South Carolina and have helped make this vision possible.

We’re excited to celebrate this moment and all that’s ahead.

👀 Behind the scenes: This week, we spent the morning with cancer survivor Tom Progar as we photographed one of the feature stories for the Fall 2026 issue of Inner Circle, the MUSC Foundation magazine.

For Tom, surviving cancer meant finding a new way to fight it.

Today, he's helping ensure the voices of patients and families help shape South Carolina's first dedicated cancer hospital – and a better experience for the patients who follow.

We can't wait to share his story this fall.

Helping people has always guided Barbara Harter Rippy's generosity.

Many know Mrs. Rippy for establishing the MUSC College of Pharmacy's first full-ride endowed scholarship, inspired by the opportunity that helped her late husband, Bobby, earn his pharmacy degree.

As the MUSC Storm Eye Institute celebrates 50 years of transforming vision care, Mrs. Rippy is helping patients in a new way. Her support for a patient care coordinator will help ensure patients navigating complex eye conditions receive the personalized guidance and support they need throughout their care journey.

As Mrs. Rippy says, "Helping people is the greatest feeling in the world."

For Rosanna Sinni, becoming a pediatric dentist is about more than caring for teeth – it's about helping children feel safe, confident, and excited to smile.

That dream is becoming a reality at MUSC thanks to scholarship support from generous donors. By easing the financial burden of dental school, scholarships have given Sinni the freedom to focus on her education, serve patients and prepare for a career dedicated to compassionate care for children.

Her journey is a reminder that when donors invest in students, they're also investing in the countless lives those students will touch in the years ahead.
