This SC Trail Town Completely Transforms Every October… 👀🎃

But the tradition started with something much smaller.

A few years ago, Conway began hanging hundreds of plastic jack-o’-lanterns from the oak trees lining downtown. People loved them so much that the city realized it might be onto something. More decorations followed, more visitors came, and in 2022 Conway took it one step further — ceremonially becoming the “City of Halloween” for the entire month of October. 👻

Today, the tradition has grown into a month-long celebration with elaborate downtown displays, spooky events, ghost walks and plenty of surprises around every corner.

And underneath all those pumpkins is still the Conway we love — historic streets, local businesses, the Riverwalk and plenty of places to explore on foot. 🥾🎃

One of South Carolina’s most unexpected towns has made it onto Hollywood screens… and it’s waiting in your backyard! 🎬🌿

Moncks Corner may fly under the radar, but Cypress Gardens has played backdrop to movies and shows like The Notebook, The Patriot and Outer Banks.

Beyond the big screen, there’s even more to discover. Paddle through a blackwater swamp beneath towering cypress trees, wander garden trails and uncover centuries of Lowcountry history along the way. 🛶

Hollywood found this hidden gem — now it’s your turn.

Our hearts are heavy for Walhalla. ❤️

In the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by the fires — the families, friends, neighbors, first responders, and the entire Walhalla community.

Walhalla is a community filled with so much history, beauty, and heart, and one we are incredibly grateful to know and celebrate. Today, we stand beside our friends there and send our deepest love, strength, and prayers in the difficult days ahead.

A Greenway With a Swan-Filled Finish? Only in Sumter, SC! 🦢

Looking for an easy way to get outside and explore one of our SC Trail Towns? Lace up your walking shoes and check out the Prisma Health Shot Pouch Greenway in Sumter! 🥾💚

This 3.1-mile paved greenway connects Dillon Park to the beautiful Swan Lake Iris Gardens, taking you through wooded areas, green spaces, and alongside Shot Pouch Branch. 🌿

And it gets even better — as you make your way toward Swan Lake, you’ll cross a 1,000-foot boardwalk through a mature cypress swamp before reaching one of Sumter’s most iconic destinations. Keep your eyes open for birds, wildlife, and plenty of photo-worthy views along the way!

Sometimes the best adventures are the simple ones — and this is one Sumter stroll you’ll want to add to your list!

🌿 Who says getting outside has to mean hitting a five-mile trail?

In Mount Pleasant, a visit to Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens is an easy way to spend a day outside while experiencing some of the Lowcountry’s most recognizable scenery and history.

🌳 Take a walk beneath the iconic Avenue of Oaks
🌹 Wander through the gardens and antique roses
🐦 Keep an eye out for birds and wildlife along the nature walks
🚜 Hop on the open-air Farm and Nature Tour
📖 Explore the site’s history and learn about the people who lived and worked here, including the stories and culture of the enslaved community

It’s a good reminder that outdoor recreation looks different for everyone. Sometimes it’s a mountain trail, and sometimes it’s a slow walk beneath centuries-old live oaks. 🌳
