Charleston Community Bee Gardens We are Charleston Community Bee Gardens. A place for beekeepers with no place to keep bees! We also help beginner beekeepers.

We hold monthly meetings and assist with beekeeping problems.

At the Bee Garden and bumped into Abby with the Clemson Invasive Pest Team putting out traps for the Yellow Legged Hornet. It was an amazing opportunity to chat, learn and laugh about her truck full of Welch’s grape juice.

Please keep your eyes out and put out your traps! These Queens are on the move right now and according to Abby, they’re pretty smart!

Also, if you have a bee club or garden group that would like an opportunity to learn, Abby is happy to do presentations and educational talks. Send us a message and we can share her info!

JUNE BEGINNER BEEKEEPING CLASS

Join us for a SC Certified Beginner Beekeeping class on Saturday June 20th and Sunday June 21st 2026 9AM-5PM each day. This is an in-person class at the Blackbaud Building 65 Fairchild St., Charleston (Daniel Island).

THE CLASS TOPICS WILL INCLUDE:
• Basic equipment, selecting an apiary site, equipment supply sources
• All about the honeybee (bee biology, races of bees, bee history)
• Diseases and Pests (treatments, pesticides, IPM)
• Building hive equipment & lighting a smoker
• Working with Honeybees (starting a bee hive, installing a package/nuc, swarms and swarm control)
• Honeybee habits (things they collect, nectar & pollen sources, products of the hive, honey extracting, packaging, and SC labeling laws)
• Seasonal hive management
• Field day at a local apiary with hands-on instruction
