What a wonderful idea! I wonder if the SCDA and Clemson Department of Plant Industry have ever thought about a similar program? Probably not.

The Virginia Beehive Distribution Program is now open for applications! 🐝

This program provides free beehive assembly equipment to Virginia residents, to help expand the number of actively managed honey bee colonies throughout the Commonwealth.

If you're interested in beekeeping and want to support the health and diversity of the Commonwealth's pollinators and ecosystems, apply by Sept. 9. 🍯🌼

Charleston County Mosquito Control is planning on Aerial Spraying for Mosquitos on Sunday August. 30th from 6:15AM-8:15AM in response to a West Nile Virus outbreak. The spray area includes the Charleston Peninsula and West Ashley along the coast to the county line. Weather permitting, an alternative date is September. 6.

BEEKEEPERS; THIS IS IMPORTANT!! It's not like routine truck spraying (which is at night) when your bees are in the hive. This spraying will take place during the time your bees are foraging.

Take precautions by covering your hives with a bedsheet that has been wetted Saturday evening to prevent a pesticide kill of your bees. When the spraying is completed (after 9AM Sunday) you can uncover your bees.

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is a citizen science project created by the University of Georgia. This project is designed for everyone to participate and make a difference for pollinator conservation!

📍Where can I help out?
Show up at Willie's Roadside Market, Boone Hall Farms, this Saturday, August 22nd from 9am-1pm and share your info.

Just a reminder that there is no meeting tonight or this July. We are prioritizing the SC State Beekeepers Association conference in Greenville next week. You can still register to attend. Visit their website. Hope to see you there!
