Our leading ladies hosted the sweetest evening celebrating both the parent group and all of the guest speakers they’ve learned from over the year! Starting with handwritten invitations and complete with games, conversation, and new connections. 🤍 We are so proud of them and thankful for the community with have through Be A Mentor!

Be A Mentor is moving! 📦

We are so incredible thankful to have called space in home over the past few years. This space has meant so much to us, and we’re especially grateful that it was generously provided free of charge to support our mission. 💛

While the space will no longer be available, we’re thankful to have found a temporary place to store supplies and work out of while we figure out next steps.

We are still hoping to find a space for our monthly mentor trainings, ideally a conference room or meeting space with parking where we could gather once a month for about two hours. If anyone knows of a space or would be interested in partnering with us, we would love to connect! Thank you for continuing to support Be A Mentor and the work we do for local youth!

Mentorship can change the trajectory of a young person’s life, and it often starts with something simple: showing up consistently 🤍

Be A Mentor pairs caring adults with local students to provide encouragement, support, and a trusted connection. Students across the Charleston area are asking for mentors, and we’re currently recruiting for the 2026-2027 school year.

One thing that tends to surprise mentors is how quickly meeting with their mentee becomes a highlight of the week! Our mentees often share how much they look forward to that time together too, and how it makes their week brighter. Then summer comes around, meetings pause for a bit, and many mentors are surprised by how fast the year flew by and how much they miss that time and together. We love seeing matches connect in creative ways before summer begins. ☀️

Welcome Our New Board Member

We’re excited to welcome Joe Provost to the Be A Mentor Board!

Joe has been a dedicated mentor with Be A Mentor for the past two school years, building meaningful relationships and showing firsthand the impact of consistent support and encouragement. Mentorship has played an important role in Joe’s own life, and he is passionate about pouring that same guidance and opportunity into a mentee helping them grow, succeed, and see their full potential.

Outside of mentoring, Joe is a big sports fan and proudly cheers on the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Braves.

We are grateful for Joe’s heart for service and his commitment to strengthening our Village. His experience and passion for mentorship will be a valuable addition to our board.

Our auction was such a highlight of the night! The room was buzzing as people bid on trips to Mexico and St. Thomas, downtown staycations, Shem Creek dinners, cooking classes, spa days, boat tours, and so many other Charleston favorites.

We’re so thankful for the local businesses and partners who donated these incredible experiences. Guests get to enjoy some amazing adventures, and every bid helps make mentorship possible for students in our schools. We couldn’t ask for a better mix of fun and impact. 💛
