The Charitable Society of Charleston is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization committed to supporting the needs of local not-for-profit groups that serve individuals across the Lowcountry. CSC may be entering a new chapter, but our commitment to Charleston is not new.

Since the organization was founded in the early 1990s, CSC members have donated more than $2 million to local nonprofits and contributed thousands of volunteer hours throughout the community.

That history matters because it shows what can happen when people keep showing up year after year.

Today, we are building on that legacy with new members, new volunteer projects, new partnerships, and the same belief that giving back to Charleston is worth making time for.

This Wednesday, CSC volunteers are heading to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital for Patient Playtime.

Sometimes giving back looks like fundraising. Sometimes it looks like simply showing up and giving your time.

Our volunteer nights give members a chance to step away from their regular routines, serve alongside one another, and support organizations doing important work right here in Charleston.

At the Charitable Society of Charleston, we’re fortunate to work alongside nonprofits tackling very different needs across our community, from caring for children and families to fighting hunger, supporting survivors, educating young people, and helping animals find loving homes.

Second Thursdays are about more than getting together. They’re about giving back.

At our latest Second Thursday Monthly Mingle, the Charitable Society of Charleston was proud to present a $500 donation to MUSC Children’s Health in support of the incredible work they do for children and families throughout our community.

This is exactly what we want Second Thursdays to be: a chance to meet new people, enjoy Charleston together, and turn those connections into meaningful support for local organizations.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening a success. Every time you show up, you’re helping CSC make a bigger impact in Charleston.

Spend time helping create a little joy for young patients and families at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.

September 3 | The Green Heart Project Garden Night
Roll up your sleeves and join us for an evening supporting The Green Heart Project and its work connecting students, healthy food, and community.

Volunteering through CSC is about more than giving a few hours of your time. It’s an opportunity to meet people who care about Charleston, learn more about the organizations serving our neighbors, and experience firsthand what we can accomplish when we show up together.
