We are continuing our TCBF Member Spotlights all year long! Next up: Lawson Day, ‘23!

Check out Lawson’s favorite memory and read more about his story, why he supports TCBF, and his passion for Citadel Athletics:

“The Citadel gave me far more than a degree. It challenged me, developed me, and helped shape the man and professional I am today. Supporting athletics is a way to express that gratitude and help provide future cadets with the same opportunities. Working behind the scenes also showed me how much strong athletic programs depend on committed supporters and adequate resources.”

A graduate of the Class of 2023, Lawson worked as an athletic trainer during his time here. He wanted to contribute to Citadel Athletics rather than simply watch from the stands. It was also a full-circle moment for Lawson, whose dad worked as a trainer in the ‘90s, both under Andy Clawson!

As an Athletic Trainer, he handled treatment, rehabilitation, practice coverage, preparation, travel, and long hours before and after competition. Most importantly, they build trust with athletes and help them work through pain, frustration, and uncertainty.

Players who made a lasting impact during his time include Tyler Long, Jalen Johnson, Cooper Wallace, Brian Horn, Andy Davis, and James Platte.

As a young alumnus himself, you can find Lawson at most sporting events and makes it a priority to attend whenever he can, even when he lived out of state. He encourages fellow young alumni to stay connected and engaged: “Give what you reasonably can, attend events, support the teams, remain connected with classmates, and look for opportunities to serve.”

Thank you, Lawson, for all you do as a young alumnus and for your continued dedication to our Bulldog athletes! 🐾
