Our second Hope alumni gathering was a beautiful morning of reconnecting, sharing, and celebrating the community that continues long after graduation. Grads exchanged tools to support one another in the trades, and Eli Lilly employees generously donated steel-toe boots and work shoes through their United Way campaign. It was a heartwarming reminder that the impact of Hope goes far beyond the classroom.

Our trades panels give our students the opportunity to hear directly from people working in the industry! Seeing people with different backgrounds and career paths thriving in the trades helps our students picture themselves doing the same.

And getting real, honest insight from people who have been where they are? That’s invaluable. A huge thank you to our incredible panelists for sharing your time, experience, and advice with our trainees:

Raine Clay — Town of Chapel Hill + Hope Renovations graduate
Maddie Medric — Southern Energy Management
Danielle Quinn — Grau Building Company
Kourtnie Daugherty — Messer Construction Co.
Jenny Chase — West End Building Company

This is what building community looks like. 💙🛠

As we continue celebrating National Association of Home Builders , today’s focus on promoting diversity in the building industry represents the core of why Hope exists. Right now, for every five skilled trades workers retiring, only two step in to take their place. Closing this workforce gap requires looking beyond traditional boundaries and creating a culture where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

That’s why our mission centers on training and uplifting women and non-binary individuals in the trades. Inclusion is the absolute future of residential construction.

Building a stronger, more resilient workforce means making sure every passionate individual knows there is a seat at the table and a place on the job site for them. Together, we can build an industry where everyone belongs. 🔨

Breaking stereotypes and building opportunity from day one! 🛠💙

For National Association of Home Builders , our CEO Spencer highlighted why early outreach matters so much:

“We need to expose kids early, bring them to job sites and show them what the industry looks like. There are so many paths, and we need to communicate that to kids from a young age while also breaking down stereotypes.”
