Despite thousands of calls and emails from providers, families, and advocates, the NC General Assembly couldn’t reach agreement this week on funding the Medicaid rebase. Rate cuts will take effect October 1, 2025.

This is a frustrating and deeply concerning outcome for providers.... and most importantly... the people we serve. Both the House and Senate are locked in different positions, and while each passed a rebase bill, they could not compromise on a unified solution.

The good news: Legislators will return to Raleigh the week of October 20th, offering another opportunity to resolve this.

👉 Now more than ever, we need to keep the pressure on. Please continue reaching out to your House and Senate representatives to urge them to fund the rebase and protect essential services for North Carolinians with disabilities and their families.

Medicaid cuts are set to begin Wednesday.

Today, our country celebrates independence, freedom, and justice. But for many of the people we support, and many of our staff, those promises can feel distant or conditional.

At RSI, we don’t take those words for granted. We live them.

Every day, and especially today, our team shows up with care, commitment, and compassion. While the systems around us often fall short, our staff bring dignity, safety, and belonging to life. They embody the very ideals we’re meant to celebrate.

To those working this July 4: thank you. Your service is seen, valued, and essential.

And to our families, friends, and broader community: please continue to stand with us. Support our residents. Support our staff. Support a vision of community where everyone is included, respected, and able to thrive. This work is sacred... and it’s stronger when we carry it together.
