The Davie Poplar Chapter Nsdar has actively supported the Durham Veterans by attending ceremonies, donations, and by joining them in a spirited game of BINGO. lol
We are continuing to support the veterans this year by helping them restock their food pantry.

🇺🇸 Soup (no cream based)

🇺🇸 Canned fruit or applesauce cups

As a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, I'm excited to be part of an organization that honors and celebrates the patriots of the Revolutionary War.

The DAR is dedicated to promoting education, historic preservation, patriotism, and many other worthwhile causes.

We provide scholarships and awards to outstanding students throughout the country, as well as offer a "DAR Manual for Citizenship" to help young people learn about civic responsibility and patriotism.

I'm thrilled to be part of this incredible organization and proud to show my support for our nation's patriots and our shared history.

A: The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is an organization dedicated to honoring and preserving the legacy of those who fought for American independence. The DAR is comprised of more than 190,000 women who form lifelong bonds, honor their revolutionary ancestors, and promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻?
A: Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR.

𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲?
A: Members of the DAR enjoy a variety of benefits including medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, transit benefits, and more. Additionally, members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of youth programs such as Children of the American Revolution (CAR), which promotes education and citizenship.

Book Harvest gladly accepts new and gently used children’s books for young readers ages 0-18.

We especially love donations of board books, picture books, Spanish and bilingual books, and books that portray ALL children, honoring diverse backgrounds, languages, abilities, and perspectives, and including stories by and about people of color.

Please note that we cannot accept:
Books for adults (cookbooks, gardening books, self-help books, novels, etc.)
Religious books for any age
Textbooks/atlas books/encyclopedias/dictionaries
Activity books/workbooks/coloring books
Library discards
Books used in classroom settings/teaching materials
Books that are outdated, yellowed, torn, molded, damaged, etc.

The annual DAR National Day of Service is Tuesday, October 11, the 132nd birthday of DAR.

This year Davie Poplar plans to provide baskets of goodies for the Chapel Hill Police Department with headquarters on Martin Luther King Blvd.

Dates:
Sunday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, October 11 at 11 a.m.

Let's show our Police force and staff how much we appreciate them on this annual Day of Service.

items being donated/requested:
Individually wrapped store bought items such as granola bars, nabs, nuts, chips, cookies, water, and gatorade will be accepted by the department
Gatorade and water preferred.
