One of the most loved stops at the Carmel Jewish Food Festival? The latkes.

Crisp, golden potato pancakes served with sour cream or applesauce — made fresh by volunteers who know exactly how important the perfect latke can be. Add matzo ball soup, corned beef sandwiches, sweet kugel, and fresh baked rugelach, and you've got a Sunday worth planning around.

Want your favorites ready and waiting? A limited menu is available to pre-order online June 28–July 19, with pick-up Saturday, July 25. Parking is easy, with spaces on-site and nearby.

Admission is free. Bring your appetite.

Come hungry. Leave full — in every sense of the word.

The Carmel Jewish Food Festival is more than a meal. It's live music in English, Hebrew, and Yiddish drifting through the grounds. It's storytelling and cultural performances. It's families gathered around long tables, neighbors reconnecting, and children discovering traditions for the first time.

Before Silicon Valley, there was Petaluma.

Join Congregation Beth Israel on Sunday, June 28 for A Home on the Range: The Jewish Chicken Ranchers of Petaluma — a fascinating documentary exploring the little-known story of Jewish immigrants who built a thriving chicken farming community in Northern California.

Following the film, guests will hear from surprise special guests, including original ranchers and their descendants, for a conversation that brings this remarkable chapter of California history to life.

The best traditions are the ones passed hand to hand.

Long before the Carmel Jewish Food Festival opens, volunteers gather in the kitchen to prepare dishes that have connected families and communities for generations.

Hand-folded potato knishes, trays of baked goods, sweet kugel, and fresh challah all begin with people coming together to cook with care. Join us Sunday, July 26, and taste the tradition for yourself.

Free admission, everyone welcome — pre-order details and visit info at jewishfoodfestivalcarmel.org.

The Carmel Jewish Food Festival is built around something simple: gathering people together around good food and warm conversation.

On Sunday, July 26, Congregation Beth Israel welcomes the community for a full afternoon of traditional Jewish dishes, music, storytelling, family activities, and cultural experiences in the heart of Carmel Valley.

This year's menu includes matzo ball soup, hand-folded potato knishes, latkes served with sour cream or applesauce, corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, sweet kugel, rugelach, challah, and hamantaschen — all lovingly prepared by volunteers.

Planning ahead is easy: a limited menu of festival favorites is available to pre-order online from June 28 through July 19, with pick-up on Saturday, July 25 — a relaxed way to have your food ready before the day. And there's parking on-site and nearby, with volunteers ready to help you find your way in.

Free admission. Everyone welcome.

There’s still time to join us for Breaking Bread this Sunday, May 31, at Congregation Beth Israel. The film follows Arab and Israeli chefs building unexpected common ground one shared meal at a time — a timely, genuinely uplifting watch.

Doors and the dessert reception open at 7 p.m., with the screening and a lively audience discussion to follow. Come for the film, stay for the talk, and meet a few neighbors over something sweet. Reserve here: carmelbethisrael.org/form/2-for-food-and-film-2026.html

Two Sundays. Two films. One table set for the whole community.

Congregation Beth Israel is kicking off the season with something special: a joint “2 for Food & Film” early bird package from the Jewish Food Festival and the Carmel Jewish Film Festival. One sponsorship commitment, four tickets, and two unforgettable Sunday evenings of film, dessert, and the kind of conversation that lingers long after the lights come up.

First up, Breaking Bread on Sunday, May 31 — a documentary about Arab and Israeli chefs using food as a bridge across the deepest divides. Dessert reception and discussion begin at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday, June 28, A Home on the Range: The Jewish Chicken Ranchers of Petaluma uncovers a forgotten chapter of California Jewish history, with special guests who lived it.

There’s heart behind it, too: a portion of Jewish Food Festival proceeds will support hunger relief through JCM United and World Central Kitchen — here at home and around the world.

Early bird sponsorships are open through May 31, with multiple levels available. Reserve yours: carmelbethisrael.org/form/2-for-food-and-film-2026.html
