On this day in 1964, Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree was first published. 🌳

More than six decades later, its story of love, generosity, and giving continues to touch readers around the world.

Happy anniversary to The Giving Tree!

Congratulations Hannah!

Meet District 4-C6 Marketing Lead Lion Hannah Lyon.

Born in Carmel, California, Hannah is a fourth-generation Lion who jokes that, with the last name “Lyon,” she never really had a choice. Service has always been part of who she is.

Since June 2025, Hannah has served as Marketing Chair for both her home club and District 4-C6, helping modernize the district’s communications and outreach. Under her leadership, the marketing team launched the district’s Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn platforms, creating engaging content, sharing resources, and helping tell the story of Lions service. Follow them at on all platforms.

One of the team’s proudest accomplishments has been the development of the Connecting the Dots Initiative—a comprehensive marketing guide designed to support club marketing chairs, club leaders, and any Lion interested in sharing their club’s story. The resource includes practical guidance on social media, service videos, marketing materials, and proven tips to help clubs strengthen their outreach while building a marketing lead in every club.

Looking ahead, Hannah’s vision is simple: empower more Lions to recognize that marketing is something they already do. Whether wearing a Lions pin, inviting someone to an event, sharing a service project, or proudly saying, “I am a Lion,” every member is helping tell the Lions story.

District 4-C6 Marketing is committed to making marketing approachable, supporting clubs every step of the way, and helping more people discover the incredible impact Lions make in their communities.

What do Lions do on vacation? Help another club with their service project of course. Three of our members helped West Kauai Lions make 1500 flying saucers at the Bon Dance.
