Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue

Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, 100% volunteer program dedicated to the health and welfare of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Our website is:
http://lscr.rescuegroups.org/ Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue has since rescued over 1,800 Cavaliers. We became incorporated on January 6, 2000, and were granted the IRS status of a nonprofit charitable organization - 501(C)(3). Our mission is to rescue and protect the breed which we all so dearly love. Donations are needed to help us continue our mission. They are always welcomed and g

reatly appreciated. Your generous donations are used to provide badly needed veterinary care which includes but is not limited to spays/neuters, vaccinations, dental care, medications, tests, ultrasounds, orthopedic surgeries, specialty care, etc. These are just a few of the common expenses we face with dogs released from the mills. Veterinary care is by far our greatest expense and it continues to grow with the increasing numbers of senior and neglected dogs we take, often turned away by others. After they have been treated, they will go to foster homes until we are able to find the best fit for each dog in a permanent home.

Jamie, a 9 month old Blenheim boy, came to Lucky Star with several others from a breeder closing. He's found his forever home, very quickly, of course. What a sweetheart he is!

Martha, a 6 year old Blenheim female has found her forever home. She has been with us for awhile, having had double patella surgery but has blossomed and is on her way to a wonderful life!

Within the past week, Lucky Star has taken in 9 dogs, all with expensive, serious medical needs. Six of these dogs must be quarantined for one month and treated for ringworm. Boarding and treatment for six dogs for 30 days in addition to spay/neuter, exams, vaccinations, etc.. is very expensive. Three seniors, over the age of 10+ years came to us with medical conditions including hearts, knees, hip dysplasia, seizures, overgrown nails requiring surgery to remove, serious dental needs and overall neglect.

The public perception and trust of rescues has been damaged over the past 8 months and so has our ability to raise funds to help these dogs. Lucky Star is a small rescue and we continue our original mission. Our focus has not changed. We continue to take the sickest and those with the greatest need and we need your help with donations so we can provide the best possible medical care for these dogs. The amount of money that we spend on every rescue far exceeds our adoption fees because we take those who are turned away by other rescues in favor of younger, healthy dogs. Over 60% of our rescues are seniors.

Willie, Teller and Beau are the 3 seniors we took in this week in neglected condition who will need long-term medical care. They may or may not be adoptable due to those conditions but Lucky Star is committed to taking care of them. Please help us with a donation so we do not have to turn away boys like these who desperately need us. Donations can be made through PayPal on our web site (http://lscr.rescuegroups.org/info/donate/) or by mailing a check to Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue, P.O. Box 7054, Carmel, CA 93921. You donation IS tax deductible.

I would like to extend a special thank you to the volunteers who traveled long distances and many hours to transport these dogs to safety and to the staff and vet at our veterinary partner in TN for always being available to us so we can help these special dogs. Thank you to those who work behind the scenes, asking for nothing in return except for the gratitude seen in the eyes of a rescued dog.

We greatly appreciate all of your help and support.
Thank you, Mary Coyne, President, Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue.

What will you be doing on Mother's Day? A puppy mill momma will be stuck in a cage without love or medical care. They will give birth to an average of 50 puppies in their lifetime.

Please help one of these mothers escape to freedom, good care and love by giving a donation, however small. You can also donate to Lucky Star in honor of your own mom or your beloved cavalier!

Gertie was lucky to have joined Ellen and her adoptive family many years ago. Unfortunately, she went to the bridge recently. Please enjoy this wonderful tribute put together by her mom. Our condolences to her family. http://youtu.be/ZNh5MFvQgdE

Lucky Star has been contacted to take several English Toy Spaniels from a hoarding situation. The location is TN and they will receive their veterinary care in Knoxville. We are in need of foster homes for these dogs, hoping to keep the travel within 3 hours of Knoxville. If you have already completed a foster application or fostered for us in the past, please contact me directly to let me know if you are available to foster and your location. If you have not fostered and would like to, please fill out the foster application on our website. A fenced yard (physical fence, not invisible fence) is required for unsocialized dogs like these to ensure their safety. Rescues are also more comfortable in homes with other dogs.

My personal e-mail is [email protected] or you can contact us at [email protected].

Dr Hickey and her staff do amazing work , getting these rescues cleaned up and into better physical condition. We cannot rescue dogs like these without the help of volunteers and foster homes so please reach into your heart and consider helping us.
Thank you.
