Pico has been closed for almost 10 years due to an illegal campfire that triggered the Soberanes Fire. Please follow these fire restrictions. You are not the exception to the rule.

No campfires until January.
A US Forest Order taking effect June 4, 2026 through January 31, 2027 prohibits campfire use at backcountry camps throughout Los Padres National Forest. This includes the Ventana and Silver Peak Wilderness Areas in Monterey County. Stove use is OK with a free-of-charge permit. Click the link below for a permit.

Despite the permit's name, it does NOT allow for campfire use when and where prohibited by a Forest Order. A violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.

Pico Derby is one week away. Today we received a $1,000 gift which brings us to $66,000 of our $100,000 goal. If you are able, please help us by sponsoring a derby car. The minimum sponsorship level is $500.00 and we would be happy to receive that sponsorship level, the next sponsorship level is $1,000.00. We would love to receive 34 more sponsors at the $1,000.00 level. You can sponsor a car through your business or as an individual or family. There is still time. We have Venturing scouts building cars through Thursday and the program is being printed on Thursday as well. Plenty of time to receive your company logo or family details for the program. Here is the link... Please join us and help us reach our goal! The event will take place this Saturday May 30th at the seaside Honda Dealership. BBQ lunch is included. You do not need to be present to run your car, if you are unable to attend we will have a youth represent you and your car. Hope to see you there!
