Growth Through Learning

75 scholars in East Africa. $100,000 invested. One shared commitment.

Thank you to the Girls Opportunity Alliance of the Obama Foundation for standing with Growth Through Learning, first in 2024 and again this year. Together, we're keeping 75 girls in school through 4 to 6 years of high school, all the way to graduation.

To mark International Day of the Girl, we're excited to share that Growth Through Learning has been selected to receive funding and organizational support from the Girls Opportunity Alliance Fund, a program of the Obama Foundation , to advance our work with girls. Together, we're helping more girls access the opportunities they deserve.

Together, we will support 75 girls through paying for their full annual secondary school fees, in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. These 75 scholars were first funded by the Girls Opportunity Alliance in 2024 in their first year of high school, and are now, in 2026, in their third year of high school. The scholarship covers everything: tuition, uniform, exam fees, school supplies, and room and board at a safe, academically rigorous school.

Girls are powerful agents for change, and we are proud to be a Girls Opportunity Alliance Featured Organization. To learn more about our project, visit gofundme.org/projects/growth-through-learning-2

Happy International Day of the Girl.

Since 1998, Growth Through Learning has helped girls in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania stay in school and finish. 2,463 high school diplomas awarded. 2,437 scholarships in the last six years. 15 partner schools.

Every one of those numbers is a girl who got to keep learning. Today we celebrate them, and the ones still on their way.

Educate a girl and she will do the rest.

October 8th is DAF Day – a time to show the powerful impact of philanthropy through a national day of giving with donor-advised funds (DAF). A DAF is a charitable savings account (like a 401k for giving) and a tool for any donor to accelerate their giving. If you have a DAF, please consider making a donation to GTL on October 8th. Your support will help fuel education for girls and young women in East Africa.

Every scholarship changes the course of a girl's life, and her community's. Since our first cohort, Growth Through Learning has walked alongside scholars in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, covering tuition, supplies, and mentorship so girls can stay in school and graduate.
