Liberia and Sierra Leone are rich in natural resources and fertile soil, yet many families still face malnutrition and food insecurity.
Why?
• Unsafe water leads to diarrhea and dehydration
• Extreme weather destroys local agriculture
• Poor sanitation and open defecation spread worms that deplete iron, zinc, and vitamins A and B12
• Contaminated water used in infant formula causes diarrhea and vomiting in babies
• Women often spend 4–8 hours daily fetching water, limiting income opportunities
• Limited nutrition education reduces awareness of the benefits of fruits and vegetables
• Limited access to tools, seeds, and funding restricts nutritious crop production
• Lack of vocational and income-building skills
Through community-led WASH and health education programs, FACE Africa partners with communities to build sustainable water systems, improve sanitation, and provide training in health, agriculture, nutrition, and economic empowerment. These efforts help families improve both household health and income.
Since 2009, FACE Africa has impacted more than 700,000 lives through water and sanitation infrastructure, hygiene education, and health education — helping communities build a foundation for prosperity, not just survival. 🌱
