CitySprouts Day was Thursday, May 21st, and we’ve loved visiting our school gardens in Cambridge. ☀️💚

Stretching over 70 feet in length, the Fletcher Maynard Academy garden features a series of planters for growing vegetables and flowers. The space also includes a shed and a composter to support year-round learning. 🪴

Yesterday was our first-ever CitySprouts Day, and we had a blast celebrating! ☀️💚 We still have a few more school gardens to highlight, and we hope you are enjoying learning about each and every one of them.

Mayor Siddiqui joined us yesterday at the courtyard garden at King Open School, where the students had a blast watering plants, looking at seedlings, and planting a raspberry bush! 🪴

Today, Thursday, May 21st, is CitySprouts Day in Cambridge! ☀️💚

A special thank you to Mayor Siddiqui for helping us celebrate 25 years of getting kids learning outside and visiting our school garden at King Open! Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating our vision to inspire a generation to grow a greener future. 🌱

As stated in the proclamation, “The City of Cambridge is grateful for CitySprouts’ commitment to enriching the socio-emotional and educational experiences for thousands of Cambridge students and for providing important, real-life opportunities to engage in natural science concepts, make real-world observations, and build meaningful connections to food systems and their environment.” 🌿

CitySprouts Day celebrates our diverse community and gardens throughout the city! 💚

The school garden at the Amigos School was constructed during the summer of 2012 by Amigos parents and CitySprouts volunteers. The outdoor classroom garden serves this Spanish immersion school from kindergarten through 8th grade. 🌿

CitySprouts Day is a time for us to celebrate our growth in the last 25 years, from how we started with just one garden to now, with every elementary and middle school in Cambridge. 💚

The beautiful rooftop garden at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School is the first intentionally designed learning garden to be included in Cambridge Public Schools’ new school building construction. It is warmer than our other gardens and partially covered by solar panels.☀️
