⚛️ Ready for VISTA Research Insights at the Interface of Nuclear Structure and AMO Physics? ⚛️

This Friday, Alex, a friend of VISTA, will host us for a tour of a lab working where nuclear physics meets atomic, molecular, and optical physics. Join us right after VISTA lunch to explore how precision measurements with ions, lasers, and traps can be used to study nuclei and search for new physics.

🧪 What to expect:
Alex will introduce us to the lab’s work across several projects, including negative ion production, collinear laser spectroscopy, cryogenic buffer gases, parity violation and fifth-force searches with ion traps, and precise isotope-shift measurements in a Paul trap using quantum logic spectroscopy. Depending on time and who is around, we may get to hear about multiple projects in the lab.

This Thursday, Andrea will host us for a session on anode-free lithium-ion coin cells. Join us to learn how battery researchers build and study these compact test cells, and why anode-free designs are an exciting direction for improving energy density and understanding next-generation battery behavior.

Andrea will introduce us to her work on anode-free Li-ion coin cells and explain how these cells are assembled, tested, and analyzed in the lab. 🚀 Ready for VISTA Research Insights on Ionic Thrusters? 🚀

This Friday, we’ll visit MIT’s Space Propulsion Laboratory (SPL), where Giulia will introduce us to her experimental work on electrospray thrusters. Join us to learn how tiny charged droplets can generate thrust and why this technology is exciting for future spacecraft propulsion.

We’ll meet outside Building 37 and go to the lab together.
