✨ Volunteer Spotlight: Karim Razzaz ✨

As a volunteer member of Cambridge’s Commission on Immigrant Rights and Citizenship (CIRC) since 2018, Karim Razzaz grounds his public service in relationship building. As an immigrant, he understands the challenges of navigating the complex, often disorienting systems of a new place. As a volunteer, he works to lower such barriers for the city’s new arrivals.

“Volunteering is not just about serving... It’s about your social life. You are building new friendships, building new connections, more than just the service itself.”

Build your community connections! Learn more about volunteering with the City, like Karim, or hear from the other 30+ local organizations looking for volunteers at the Fall 2026 Cambridge Volunteer Fair!

🗓️ This Wednesday, September 30 | 12:00 - 1:30 PM | Zoom | FREE!

Today, we're celebrating Laurie, our longtime director, as she begins her well-deserved retirement! 💜

For the past 11 years, Laurie has been at the heart of Cambridge Volunteers. What began in 2015 as a 10-hour-a-week role managing the Cambridge Senior Volunteer Clearinghouse grew into the Cambridge Volunteers we know today, connecting volunteers with 200+ local organizations, building a community of thousands of volunteers and supporters, and helping countless people find meaningful ways to give back.

Laurie's impact goes far beyond numbers. She has always put the needs of nonprofits, volunteers, and the community first, building connections that have strengthened our local community year after year. As Laurie reflects on her time with Cambridge Volunteers, she says, “It has taken a village.” And while so many people have helped make this work possible, we know that Laurie has been a tremendous part of that village.

We’re also grateful that Laurie’s legacy will continue as Cambridge Volunteers joins forces with our longtime partners at Cambridge Nonprofit Coalition, creating one trusted hub for Cambridge nonprofits and their volunteers.

Laurie, thank you for 11 years of dedication, leadership, and countless connections. We'll miss having you on our team, but we're so happy for you as you begin this next chapter! Congratulations Laurie!
