Big news for Cambridge’s nonprofit community: Cambridge Volunteers is now part of Cambridge Nonprofit Coalition .

For nearly a decade, our organizations have worked alongside one another—hosting joint events, supporting many of the same nonprofits, and strengthening connections across Cambridge. Now, we’re bringing that work under one roof.

By combining Cambridge Volunteers’ deep experience connecting residents with meaningful ways to serve with CNC’s leadership development, training, peer networks, and advocacy, we’re creating one trusted hub for Cambridge’s nonprofits and the volunteers who support them.

After 11 years of leading CV, our Executive Director Laurie Rothstein will be retiring, and as part of this new partnership, CNC’s Executive Director Elena Sokolow-Kaufman will lead the unified organization.

We’re excited to build this next chapter together.

Happy National Nonprofit Day!

Today, we celebrate the incredible nonprofit organizations that make our community stronger. Every day, they're supporting families, helping students learn, feeding neighbors, uplifting art and culture, protecting our environment, and bringing people together.

A lot of this work happens quietly behind the scenes and it wouldn't be possible without the people who give their time, energy, and resources.

To all the nonprofits and the network of people who make this work possible - THANK YOU! đź’›

If you've been wondering how you can be part of that work, come meet some of these amazing organizations at our Cambridge Volunteer Fair on September 30th, 12:00-1:30pm on Zoom!

We'd love to see you there. Register here: bit.ly/2026SeptVolFair

✨ Volunteer Spotlight: Tracie at City of Cambridge's Recycling Advisory Committee

Tracie Gordon doesn’t wait for an invitation to fix a problem or take action. As a volunteer with Cambridge’s Recycling Advisory Committee, she brings that same problem-solving energy to sustainability and civic life in Cambridge.

From turning an old T-shirt into a reusable shopping bag to helping advance the city’s Zero Waste goals, Tracie believes in doing what you can, right where you are.

"You don't have to give 10 hours a day. You can give an hour a week. You can volunteer right where you are."

Read Tracie's story here: https://www.cambridgevolunteers.org/post/tracie-and-karim-connection-and-belonging-through-service

If you're interested in volunteer positions similar to Tracie's, join us at the Cambridge Volunteer Fair on Sep 30, where a representative from the City's Boards and Commissions will be presenting and answering questions.

Thank you to Tracie, our volunteer writer Chris, and the team at the City of Cambridge for this Volunteer Spotlight!
