As The Buffalo News Editorial Board noted, 43North's impact has always been about more than a competition. Over the last 12 years, founders, employees, investors, mentors, supporters, and the community helped build something much bigger: a thriving startup ecosystem in Buffalo.

A few key takeaways:

• 43North invested $55 million in 79 startups that have created jobs, raised capital, and generated lasting economic impact.
• Buffalo's startup ecosystem has grown from "barely apparent to a lively entrepreneurial scene."
• While 43North Finals 2026 will be the final competition and 2027 the final year of programming, support for entrepreneurs in Buffalo will continue through the 43North Foundation.

Twelve years ago, the idea of Buffalo becoming a real startup city sounded a little crazy.

Today, 43North portfolio companies have created thousands of jobs, raised billions in follow-on funding, and helped transform Buffalo into a real destination for startups, talent, and innovation. 🦬

As Buffalo’s startup ecosystem continues to grow and evolve, 2027 will mark the final year of the 43North accelerator, with the final Finals competition taking place this October at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Shea's Performing Arts Center

After building a successful dermatology-focused business in the U.K. and Europe, the itch-relief startup Cosi Care has officially relocated to Buffalo as a Year 11 43North portfolio company.

Co-founders Lauren Bell and Sandip Leihal are now laying the groundwork for a major U.S. expansion in 2026 — scaling sales of their FDA-registered medical devices and exploring domestic manufacturing in Western New York.

With proven demand overseas, a growing U.S. waitlist, and Buffalo at the center of its growth strategy, Cosi Care is ready for what’s next.
