The Battle Within Memorial, began as an initiative of Harmonie Lodge #699* is an effort to better understand and address the devastating frequency of Veteran su***des across the country. It’s meant to be both a fitting military salute to the approximately 20+ per day that have tragically died here on our shores, and a forum for issues related to the well-being of Veterans such as PTSD and Traumatic Shock. In addition to personal messages by those impacted, this event will center on educating the public as well as providing resources available from the VA and community partners. On Memorial Day, Monday May 28, 2018, local Buffalo, NY media covered the unveiling of a permanent memorial proposed for inclusion along Buffalo's Inner Harbor.

Harmonie Lodge #699 is a lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, recognized by the Grand Lodge of New York and one of the oldest continually active lodges in New York State since its inception on November 30, 1869.

Last night, the Battle Within Foundation was honored to donate $2,500 to support Jay’s Barbershop’s 24-hour haircut-a-thon benefiting Crisis Services.

Many people don’t realize that when a veteran in Western New York calls 988, it is Crisis Services that answers that call locally. Their team provides critical support during life’s most difficult moments.

We’re proud to support their lifesaving work and grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success. Together, we can make sure no one has to face a crisis alone.

The Battle Within Foundation would like to thank all our Volunteers who came out today to help us place 7,300 flags throughout the Buffalo & Erie County Naval Park representing the 7,300 veterans lives lost from su***de this year.

We have been doing this display to raise our awareness for the past 7 years and could not have done it without your help.

Thank you all again, it was great to see some familiar faces, as well as meeting several new ones.

Please join us on Monday for our Annual Memorial Day Services infront of the USS Croaker at 10AM.
