Working with the UB MBA Consulting Group this semester reminded us why we love partnering with emerging talent…

This team of students didn’t just build us a dashboard. They listened to how we work, fine-tuned based on real feedback from our team, and delivered a tool we’ll actually use to identify growth opportunities and expand community impact.

That’s the difference between a project and a partnership.

Thank you for choosing to spend your semester with us. We’re better equipped because of your work, and we hope you learned something valuable about the complex, rewarding world of community-based care! 👊🏽

Check out our trash! 🚮🌍

It’s safe to say that the 2026 CCNY Earth Day Cleanup was a huge success! We found a live garter snake so we’re thinking that all the years of cleanup have nurtured a healthy ecosystem.

The real prize was all of us sitting around the picnic table with yummy snacks and stories to share!

We’re building something the sector needs.

This summer, CCNY is partnering with the University at Buffalo’s Social Impact Fellows program to create a free data readiness assessment tool for nonprofits and coalitions. Think of it as a health check for your data capacity, helping you understand where you are and what’s possible.

A graduate team from UB’s Schools of Management, Social Work, Public Health, and Arts & Sciences will spend eight weeks working alongside us to research, design, and test a prototype that any organization can use. By fall, we’ll have a working tool, a resource library, and a roadmap to get it into your hands.

Proud to be selected for this, excited about what we’ll create together! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

So what does it actually look like to walk into that room ready?

You know your audience before you arrive. You know which data points resonate with a legislator versus a funder versus a community board. You know how to wrap your findings in a narrative that doesn’t let anyone look away.

That’s a learnable skill. And it’s exactly what we work through together.

Data for Advocacy is a 3-hour workshop on combining data and narrative to move the people who make decisions about your community.

Because you didn’t collect all that data just to have it sit in a report nobody reads.

Justice is supposed to be blind. Your advocacy can’t be.

You’ve done the work. You have the data, the outcomes, the community voices. But when you walk into that legislative meeting or funder conversation, something gets lost in translation.

The room doesn’t respond the way you expected. The report you spent weeks on gets skimmed. The ask doesn’t land.

It’s not because your work isn’t compelling. It’s because data alone doesn’t move people. And story without data doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. Most organizations in health and human services are sitting on powerful findings with no clear path from the spreadsheet to the decision-maker.

That gap has real consequences for the communities you serve.

Sheppard, PhD, LMSW, CSWM, Elyse Fuerst, LMSW, Christa Foschio, and Kristy Colvin, LMSW on our team — social workers whose compassion and dedication remind us that behind every data point is a person who deserves to be seen.

To our social workers, and to the entire social work community: thank you. Your work matters more than words can say.

Stop buying technology you don’t need or can’t use.

“Asking the Right Questions Before Tech Purchases” is a four-week workshop series to define requirements, map workflows, and establish governance before procurement.

You’ll know exactly what to ask vendors. You’ll avoid costly implementation failures. And if the answer is “you don’t actually need new software”? We’ll tell you that, too.

Week 1: Define requirements
Week 2: Map workflows
Week 3: Establish governance
Week 4: Prepare for procurement
