💡 Did you know? Affordable housing doesn't happen by accident.

For Housing America Month, we want to share something about our work: IMPACCT Brooklyn has been a Qualified Preservation Buyer for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) since the list was first created in 2018.

That means HPD has evaluated us for our ability to acquire and rehabilitate privately-owned regulated, rent-stabilized, and unregulated properties, with the goal of keeping them affordable for the long haul. When property sellers, community-based organizations, and others are looking for a responsible preservation partner, HPD can refer them to us, whether that means extending an existing HPD agreement or entering a new one.

Here's the other thing worth knowing: preservation takes sustained public investment. It helps create new affordable homes, preserve the ones we have, and support the programs residents rely on to stay housed. When people have stable housing, the benefits reach everyone: families stay rooted, local businesses thrive, and neighborhoods remain strong.

That's why we continue to advocate for public investment in affordable housing, and why we've kept showing up for Central Brooklyn for more than 60 years.

🏠 Can I be evicted for owing rent?

Possibly—but owing rent does not mean you are without rights or options.

Rent-related eviction cases are common, and falling behind can happen after a job loss, an unexpected expense, or other emergency.

Depending on your circumstances, you may qualify for rental assistance programs such as CityFHEPS, the One-Shot Deal, or other emergency rental assistance.

If you're facing an eviction case in Brooklyn, don't navigate it alone.

At IMPACCT Brooklyn, we believe that caring for our community starts with caring for each other. Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, and that includes the places where we spend so much of our time: our workplaces.

❄️ Emergency Heating Fund Program ❄️

Winter utility bills can add up fast — and IMPACCT Brooklyn is here to help.

Through a partnership with National Grid and Brooklyn ORG, IMPACCT Brooklyn will be administering the Emergency Heating Fund Program, providing up to $800 in financial assistance to eligible Brooklyn homeowners to help reduce their National Grid heating expenses this winter.

The application will open soon, and this program will operate on a first-come, first-served basis while funds last, so we encourage eligible homeowners to watch for the launch information.

As a trusted community organization, IMPACCT Brooklyn is proud to help ensure this critical resource reaches the Brooklyn homeowners who need it most.
