🚨BRAND NEW LOCATION!🚨

The 2024 NYC Half Marathon Cheer Zone is here! We can’t wait to cheer on our BKTC Members as they tackle this crazy race! We will be on runners right!

We have a BRAND NEW location this year! We will be at MILE 10.3 for our runners. We will be on the 42nd street CLIMB at Madison Ave and 42nd street. We will be there to give runners a power up on this monster of a hill.

Bring your cowbells! Bring your posters! Bring your confetti cannons! Bring your coffee! Bring your energy! Time to show Manhattan “WHERE BROOKLYN AT!”

Celebrating the strides of our members for Black History Month, the remarkable Jacqui Moore.

Jacquie embarked on her running journey after a shoulder injury prompted her to explore new avenues for preserving her physical and mental well-being. Starting with 3-min intervals on a treadmill, she has since become a decorated athlete. In 2015, she completed her first marathon, and last year, she made history as Jamaica’s first female 6 Star Finisher. To top it off she’s even qualified for the Boston Marathon three times in a row!

To Jacqui, age is just a number as she enjoys all of Central Park, which she affectionately refers as her “backyard” and “unofficial social club”. She finds joy in running everywhere, from the coastlines of California to the River Thames in London, which holds a special significance as her homecoming route. Wherever she goes, she runs to prove we are capable of more than we think.

Pro tips from - :
1) Don’t compare yourself to other runners, you are on your own journey.
2) You are never too old, too slow, too out of shape to start - just start!
3) If you want to run marathons and don’t want to get injured you need to strength train,
4) Sometimes you have to run slow to run fast.
5) You are capable, you are worthy, you can do it!

Celebrating the strides of our members for Black History Month, this is Sam Honore.

Sam’s journey started primarily as a sprinter in high school when he wasn’t playing soccer. He was drawn back to the sport inspired by the world of long-distance running and all the hype surrounding how the entire community aims to crush their goals. This sentiment pushes him to chase his own goals with a smile on his face, alongside friends across the road, track, and trails!

Celebrating the strides of our members for Black History Month, the one and only Katherine Scott-Herbout!

Inspired to start running while staying abroad, her journey started by exploring routes with her friend in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. She runs to prove to herself she can, no matter the injury, keeping up with her husband who also runs. Avoiding the treadmill at all costs these days, Central Park and the West Side Highway are Katherine’s favorite places to run when not in her hometown.

Celebrating the strides of our members for Black History Month, here is Ipalibo Da-Wariboko.

Ipalibo began running track in high school and, in his own words, ‘hated it.’ However, after completing the season, he felt a sense of pride from the entire process. This joy was reignited during the pandemic, as the boost in physical and mental health became more rewarding than ever. Training as much as he can with BKTC, he believes that the simple act of challenging oneself through running has become a way to embrace all he has in his life, while being surrounded by amazing people and the beauty of the outdoors.

Celebrating the strides of our members for Black History Month, this is Brian Young.

Initially starting running for boxing in high school, Brian got more into the sport as an adult. He embraces challenges and enjoys all the benefits of running. His favorite places to run are Bushwick Avenue and the Westside Highway. On the road, at the track, and throughout the city, he wants everyone to believe in themselves.

There is this insane feeling shared when watching others push themselves to the absolute limit. We can’t help but feel even more stoked for our five athletes who gave it their all during these Olympic Trials. Congrats and safe travels to all, can’t wait to see you back in NYC.
