🌱⚡ It’s finally here — and it was worth the wait.

The EcoPower ’26 Internship is OFFICIALLY OPEN and Brooklyn, we have been waiting to drop this one.

9 weeks. 4 tracks. Paid opportunity. Open to ALL high schoolers. No experience needed — just bring yourself and your drive.

This summer you’ll be doing REAL work. Soil testing, community mapping, building tech tools, creating media, running energy clinics, and more. Pick your track and go all in.

🌿 Environmental + Data — for the science lover
💻 Tech + AI — for the builder
🎥 Story + Media — for the storyteller
🤝 Community + Civic — for the connector

This isn’t a sit-and-shadow situation. You’re building something Brooklyn will actually feel.

The wait is over. Now it’s your turn. 👇

this is in the wild. 📍
from burial grounds to ballot boxes to ribbon cuttings — yeah, we stay on it. 🌿✂️🗳️
swipe to see what the work actually looks like when it’s not a press release. 👇🏾

1️⃣ people’s money gotv launch — civic power, literally in the streets. 💸
2️⃣ people’s money tabling fair — packed room. neighbors showing up for neighbors. 🗳️
3️⃣ flatbush burial ground — the land holds history. we hold the line. our founder, allyson martinez + elected officials on site — community and power, face to face. 🌀
4️⃣ bethany senior terraces — before we were responsible for getting the word out. we helped neighbors apply. ✊🏾
5️⃣ ribbon cutting day — and after (a few years later) we showed up when the doors opened. 🎀
6️⃣ mta ibx community session — transit justice IS environmental justice. 🚊
7️⃣ cb14 nonprofit roundtable — yes, we’re in those rooms too.

this is making sure the power is local. this is every day. 🗽

Earth Day isn’t new to us. It’s every day. 🌍
You may have never called yourself an environmentalist. But consider this:

→ You’ve watched that empty lot flood every time it rains.
→ You’ve called 311 about trash that never gets picked up.
→ You’ve paid too much at the corner store because there’s no supermarket nearby — and you know that’s not an accident.
→ You’ve watched asthma take over the kids on your block.
→ You’ve held the block together when the city wouldn’t.

That’s environmental justice. You’ve been doing Earth Day all along.

Earth Day turned 56 this year. In Brooklyn, we’ve been answering the call without always calling it that.

At BKLVLUP, we name the work. We build the infrastructure. We train the next generation. We fight for community land trusts, clean air, and green jobs that stay in the neighborhood.

Climate justice IS housing justice IS economic justice IS racial justice. 💚💜
Happy Earth Day, Brooklyn. You’ve been holding it down. We’re just making it official.

👇 Tell us in the comments: how have you been doing Earth Day in your neighborhood?

The search is over. 🙌🏾

We didn’t rush this one. Finding the right person to lead our Community Land Trust work — someone who not only understands the policy but lives the mission — took time. And Bryan Lenz Belmont was worth every bit of the wait.

Born and raised in Flatlands, Bryan brings the kind of roots, vision, and conviction that you can’t manufacture. He knows these blocks. He knows what’s at stake. And he’s here to build something lasting.
Welcome to the team, Bryan. BKLVLUP just leveled up. 💚🔥

As Women’s History Month comes to a close, the celebration doesn’t stop here. 🌸

To every woman who pours into her community, who lifts the next generation, who shows up every single day — we see you, we honor you, always. ✊🏾🌹

With everything happening in this country right now, we want to say this clearly:

To the immigrants of Brooklyn — we see you.

As we close out Black History Month, we’re dedicating this last week to highlighting Black immigrant leaders and changemakers across our borough.

We see the work.
We see the businesses.
We see the families, the culture, the resilience.

Not for optics. Not for trends.
But because you deserve to be centered.

You belong here.
You’ve helped to built here.
And Brooklyn is better because of you.

This is just another reminder that “The future is local. The power is collective.” ✊🏾

Today we honor Ujamaa — Cooperative Economics — the Kwanzaa principle that calls us to build, invest, and circulate our resources within community so we can all rise together.

Kwanzaa reminds us that our roots are powerful — and that unity, purpose, creativity, and collective care aren’t just values, they’re a practice. These same principles live at the heart of BKLVLUP as we design a future where Brooklyn’s communities — especially our Caribbean and Afro-diasporic neighbors — have the tools, safety, and support to thrive.

This holiday season, we invite you to live Ujamaa with us by supporting our Holiday Fundraiser. Your generosity powers youth leadership, environmental justice, and digital equity — all grounded in community.
When the water rises, so do we — together.
