MAB Community Services MAB Community Services is a nonprofit with headquarters in Brookline, MA that serves individuals with disabilities across Massachusetts.

MAB Community Services specializes in individualized rehabilitation, and family-focused strategies that help individuals with a range of disabilities live full and independent lives in the community. The organization's three distinct divisions are the Ivy Street School, MAB Adult Disability Services, and Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. They work tirelessly across the entire organization to promote acceptance, inclusion, equality, and diversity. The Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired provides vision rehabilitation and support services throughout Massachusetts to more than 1,200 adults, primarily older adults, who are blind or visually impaired. Programs include access to low vision clinics, peer empowerment support groups, one-to-one volunteer assistance, in-home vision rehabilitation, adjustment counseling/mental health support, and access/assistive technology training. Our unique blend of programs and services enables individuals to learn to live confidently with vision loss. MAB Adult Disability Services provides residential support services, individual support, transitional assistance, and social, vocational, and recreational day programming for individuals with developmental disabilities or brain injuries in Greater Boston and Central Massachusetts. The division operates more than 25 group homes and serves over 300 people each year. The Ivy Street School is a special education residential and day high school for neurodivergent youth. We work with students to prepare them for adulthood with the tools they need to achieve their greatest independence. Using a lens of disability justice, we support the whole child through a student-first model driven by a commitment to knowing our students well. Additionally, through our Skills for Life program, we support in-home skill development for young adults.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to join an incredible team of dedicated fundraisers and runners raising awareness for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired! All funds raised go towards MABVI's statewide vision rehabilitation services, including 34 low-vision support groups, Assistive Technology and Training Centers, and 400 volunteers matched 1:1 with blind individuals. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! This past Thursday, MAB staff attended the Massachusetts APSE Employment Matters! Conference to learn about creating a more equitable workforce.

MAB is committed to supporting disability employment and advocating for inclusion in the workplace! Our very own Chief Advancement Officer, Anastasia Kanistras, serves as a member of the Mass APSE board of directors and presented at the conference. She was joined by members of both the ADS and Ivy Street divisions.

If you're interested in getting involved with disability services, human services, or nonprofits, look no further than MAB Community Services! At MAB, our mission is to empower people with disabilities across the lifespan to live meaningful, self-directed lives.

🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that Anastasia Kanistras has officially been named Chief Advancement Officer of MAB Community Services!

After stepping into the role on an interim basis in April, Anastasia quickly surpassed expectations and demonstrated the leadership, passion, and vision she brings to MAB every day.

Over her 13 years at MAB, Anastasia has grown from frontline program work into progressively expanding leadership roles, giving her a deep understanding of our mission and the people we serve. In just a few months as interim Chief Advancement Officer, she has strengthened our Advancement team, developed new processes, built relationships with board members, and helped advance MAB’s brand and mission throughout the community.

We’re incredibly excited for this next chapter and all that Anastasia will bring to MAB in her permanent role.
