The Emerald Necklace's Muddy River has been undergoing a major facelift after decades of neglect. From 2013 to 2017, the Muddy River was removed from its culvert- a process called daylighting- and restored between the Riverway and Avenue Louis Pasteur in the Back Bay Fens.

Courtesy of FOMR friend Susan Helms Daley, who spotted this tiny snapping turtle (note the acorn for size comparison) by the Muddy River today. She had seen the moms laying eggs in late May but never the hatchlings.
