Ivy Street School

Ivy Street School The Ivy Street School is a special education residential and day high school for neurodivergent youth.

We work with students to prepare them for adulthood with the tools they need to achieve their greatest independence. At Ivy Street, we support neurodivergent youth through a person-centered model that is driven by collaboration, a willingness to think big, and a commitment to really knowing the young people we serve. Across our educational, residential, and community-based programs, we support ado

lescents and young adults with disabilities by creating the therapeutic conditions that allow them to thrive. Our approach is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and laser-focused on strengthening healing, deepening community, building skills, and accelerating motivation for successful adulthood.

We are proud to share that Ivy Street School has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as part of the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s investment to support implementation of revised time-out regulations.

This funding will strengthen our ongoing work to expand positive behavior supports, deepen staff training in de-escalation and trauma-informed practices, and create school environments where neurodiverse students feel safe, supported, and included.

We are honored to be among the awardees across Massachusetts and grateful for this investment in thoughtful, student-centered practices.

Congratulations to our Ivy Street team for the following recognition of their work implementing project-based learning (PBL) in a special education setting.

At this year’s Massachusetts Special Education Summit, Tara Elwell, M.Ed., Kate Garrity, MS, OTR/L, and Emma Weiner, MS, OTR/L will be featured presenters, sharing how Project-Based Learning can be made accessible, authentic, and inclusive for students with moderate disabilities.

Their work is highlighted in the newly released book Project Based Learning for All: A Leader’s Guide by Bob Lenz and Lisa Mireles. Their leadership and innovation in adapting Gold Standard PBL for learners with complex needs is helping shape the national conversation about what project-based learning in a special education setting can look like.

In observance of Presidents Day, Ivy Street School will be closed on Monday, February 16th.
