The office is open throughout the year, and suggestions for new programs and ideas for how to improve our offerings are always welcome.

Brockton Community Schools was founded in 1970 to provide community education, enrichment and recreation opportunities to children and adults throughout the city. In the past three decades, it has grown and evolved, serving thousands of children and adults in a wide variety of programs, from basketball leagues to sewing courses, English As A Second Language Instruction, GED preparation, automotive repair, yoga and computer classes. Community Schools also provides highly successful vacation and before- and after-school academic and enrichment programs for Brockton children, providing safe spaces and caring adults 12 months a year. A division of the Brockton Public Schools, Community Schools is operated and staffed by highly qualified professionals from the educational, business, sports and arts communities. Community Schools currently oversees four major programmatic areas: academic support and enrichment programs for students, continuing education and ESL services for adults, and recreation and enrichment programs for the community.

In honor of Veterans Day, Baker Extended Day students participated in a meaningful discussion about the holiday and the importance of recognizing and honoring those who have served our country. Following the discussion, students created heartfelt cards expressing their gratitude and appreciation. These special cards will be sent to a military base to share encouragement and support with soldiers participating in boot camp.

🎃🍁 Baker Fun Friday: Pumpkin & Fall Fun! 🍁🎃
Our Baker students had a fantastic Fun Friday filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and sensory exploration! Students in grades K–2 enjoyed pumpkin-themed activities, including making homemade pumpkin play dough, looking at, lifting, and feeling real pumpkins, drawing pictures of what their pumpkins looked and felt like, and practicing fine motor skills with pumpkin bingo daubing. Students in grades 3–5 practiced following directions, measuring, and mixing ingredients as they followed a recipe to make homemade play dough. While waiting for their turns, students enjoyed coloring fall-themed pictures and participating in sensory activities.
