Our Story

Upward Bound is an academic college preparatory program funded by the United States Department of Education. There are over 700 Upward Bound Programs across the country serving students. The Upward Bound program at Brockton High School enrolls approximately 50 students from Brockton High School. During the academic school year, Upward Bound emphasizes academic support, enrichment, leadership, and goal setting. We offer an after school program where students can come and work on their homework, get help in areas they are struggling with, prepare for standardized tests, work on materials needed for college applications, and learn new things both academically and culturally. The program has two Education Advisers that serves as a counselor for the students to ensure that students remain on task academically and behaviorally. These advisers track students progress throughout the school year and implement specific plans to assure that students don’t fall behind if needed. The Upward Bound summer program is designed to meet the needs of rising freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and the bridge students, who will be freshman in college the following September. The Upward Bound summer program takes place at Stonehill College for six weeks. During this time, students take classes in the core academic curriculum and one elective.
