The Brevard Philharmonic has fond memories of Jimmy Harris, who served our community as mayor for many years. In this photo, Jimmy joined us for our Christmas concert to read ’Twas the Night Before Christmas while the orchestra played, a special moment we will remember fondly.

Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

One of our favorite moments from last Sunday’s concert (and there were actually many favorite moments!) was when Jackson Parkhurst, the founding Music Director of the Brevard Philharmonic, opened the concert by conducting The Star-Spangled Banner.

Fifty years ago, Maestro Parkhurst was a “conductor without an orchestra,” visiting his friends Cindy and Al Platt in Brevard, North Carolina. His friends suggested he start an orchestra, and that is exactly what he did!

The 2026–2027 season marks the 50th Anniversary Season of the Brevard Philharmonic, and we are here to celebrate!

Join us for all that we have planned by grabbing your tickets now at www.brevardphilharmonic.org or by calling 828-884-4221.

We still have tickets and packages available!

What a way to close the 2025-2026 season.

Our final concert of the season, Pines of Rome, received an extraordinary review praising the Brevard Philharmonic’s “talent, taste, and tenor” and calling the performance “a marvelous capstone on the entire season.”

The reviewer described Respighi’s Pines of Rome as “triumphant” and “exultant,” saying the audience was completely immersed in sound, with musicians surrounding the hall in an unforgettable musical experience. One moment especially stood out:

“When every corner of the room began to swell towards the concluding heights of the piece, I could have levitated out of my chair.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us this season and helped make it so special. And now… onward to our 50th Anniversary Season!
