The Transylvania French Broad Stewards is a volunteer group that promotes the natural and economic vitality of the upper French Broad River in Transylvania County. The Transylvania French Broad Stewards are a volunteer group that is part of Conserving Carolina, a land conservation nonprofit. They do this by connecting with landowners and river users to promote best practices for agriculture, fore
stry development, and recreation. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Transylvania French Broad River Stewards. To get involved, go to: conservingcarolina.org/volunteer
You can make donations to the Transylvania French Broad River Stewards through Conserving Carolina at conservingcaroling.org/donate. Our projects include:
- Hosting Riverfest, a popular, family-friendly festival in Rosman, NC every summer
- Promoting proactive river management to reduce log jams, protect farmland and riparian areas, and keep the river accessible for recreational users
- Fostering partnerships with other local and regional organizations involved in the river use, management, and stewardship
- Providing information and education about the importance, uses, and protection of the French Broad River in Transylvania County. In addition, this page is a platform for the general public to post any known information on the current conditions of the French Broad River. However, please keep in mind that the river is a dynamic environment: Just because there aren't any reported obstacles does NOT mean the river is guaranteed to be clear. Trees can fall at any moment and create dangerous situations. And of course, don't forget that you can also contact local outfitters or guides as good sources for current infomation on river conditions.
