Mountain School of Strings (formerly TYS) is a non-profit that provides affordable music education on stringed instruments for students of any age or level

Mountain School of Strings is devoted to fostering a love of music, creative self-expression and the sense of accomplishment that comes from learning a musical instrument. Our goal is to offer each person an opportunity to personally connect with a musical string instrument and to play with other musicians. We want to ensure the continuation of high quality music education programs in face of the myriad challenges facing our public schools. Music education is critical to the development of our youth and brings about proven positive development in their lives. Adult learners enjoy reconnecting with an instrument from their past, or growing skills and playing with others.
