Join Pisgah Area SORBA for a Women's Trail Work Day at Bracken Preserve!

Come spend the evening outside, meet other women who love trails, and help build an exciting new addition to the Bracken trail system. Whether you're an experienced trail volunteer or have never picked up a trail tool before, this work day is for you.

We'll be working on the new trail, helping with tasks such as corridor cleanup, root removal, and tread finishing.

This is a great opportunity to learn trail-building skills, connect with the local trail community, and make a lasting impact on a project that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Once the work is done, we'll head back to the depot, and fire up the grill. Stick around for some food provided by Cane Creek Cycling Components, and cold drinks provided by Sierra Nevada, and a chance to hang out and talk shop with the crew.

Date: Wednesday, June 10th
Time: 5pm-7:30pm
Location: Jimmy Harris Railroad Depot

No experience necessary — our Trail Crew Leaders will provide tools, instruction, and guidance.

What if every ride helped support the trails you love? 🌲🚲

Pisgah Area SORBA is excited to offer a new way to give back through Trail Care, a program that lets you make small per-mile donations automatically through your Strava account.

Trail maintenance doesn’t happen on its own. It takes thousands of volunteer hours, specialized equipment, advocacy, and ongoing stewardship to keep our trails clear, sustainable, and fun to ride. Yet many trail users never have a chance to volunteer or donate directly. Trail Care makes supporting the trails as easy as connecting your Strava account.

Whether you ride, run, hike, or walk, every mile can help support the work being done on the ground by local volunteers and trail organizations. The amount is completely up to you, and even a few cents per mile can make a meaningful impact over time.

Ready to turn your miles into trail support? Check out the simple setup instructions and start giving back to the trails that give us so much. 💚

A lot of behind-the-scenes trail work has been happening lately in Bent Creek.

Over the past couple of months, our crews have completed major maintenance work on the western portion of Lower Sidehill Trail. This work focused on improving drainage and long-term trail sustainability by rehabilitating drainage features, cleaning out knicks, re-establishing grade reversals, and de-berming sections of trail that were trapping water.

As part of Pisgah Project Day, another volunteer crew also tackled the upper section near Bent Creek Gap Road (FR 479) in late April alongside machine work in the area.

These improvements help keep trails more resilient, ride better during wet weather, and reduce long-term erosion and maintenance needs.

Huge thanks to everyone who has put in time and effort out there lately!

We can’t believe it’s already been one week since WNC Bike Fest. We’re still buzzing from last weekend. Huge thank you to all of the vendors, sponsors, nonprofits, volunteers, ride leaders, musicians, racers, and community members who helped make this event what it was.

The energy all weekend long was incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who showed up, supported the event, and helped make year two even bigger and better.

Most importantly, every dollar raised goes right back into the trails. Thank you for helping support the work that keeps Pisgah riding strong.

Already counting down to next year!🚲🍻

One of the most special parts of WNC Bike Fest this weekend was seeing adaptive riders out on the trails and part of the Pisgah All Mountain Challenge. 💚

This was the first year we introduced an adaptive category and partnered with Catalyst Sports to help make the event more accessible and inclusive for more members of our community. From group rides to race stages, it was incredible to watch riders of all backgrounds and abilities come together and experience Pisgah.

As Matt Lee said, “When we're out riding together, we're all on wheels.”

That’s what this weekend was about. Community. Connection. Breaking down barriers. Sharing the forest together.

Huge thanks to , all of the adaptive riders, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this happen. We’re excited to continue building on this and making the trails and events we love more welcoming for everyone. 🌲♿🚲
