Come out for the Upper French Broad Riverfest!!, this Saturday, June 20th!! The Pisgah Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be there with our fly-fishing game and macroinvertebrates for the kids to see straight from the river. This is one of the best FREE family-fun days. Come to Guidon Brewing on Thursday, June 11th, at 6:30 to grab a drink and dinner, and enjoy time to socialize before our program begins at 7:00. First, announcements, then our speakers, Powell Wheeler and Amanda Bushon, Fisheries Biologists, North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, who will share updates on all the fisheries research and management projects underway in District 9. Afterward, we will have our door prize raffle! This will be our last schedule of speakers until September. You don’t want to miss it!!

Also, don’t forget to get signed up for the Hellbender Canoe Relay. The 20 Miler Relay Race is a team canoe relay covering 20 miles of river in two sections with a mid-race team exchange. We were honored to be part of Pisgah Fish Day helping some very special people fish and enjoy a beautiful day at Lake Powhatan. The US Forest Service has hosted this event for over 30 years. Saturday (May 30) is a kids fishing day at the lake.

Trout from young-of-the-year to adults along with dace, sculpins, and case caddis in the Davidson River. Water levels are very low and daytime water temperatures are high. So thankful for the rainy forecast, albeit on Memorial Day Weekend, but we’ll take rain whenever we can get it.

Come out and join PCTU this Wednesday, May 13th, at 10:00 a.m. We will be doing a roadside cleanup along our Adopt-A-Highway section of Hwy 276 through the Pisgah National Forest. We meet at the C**n Tree Picnic Area, five miles from Hwy 280. This popular scenic highway draws visitors from all over, and we pride ourselves on keeping the 4.5-mile section from Avery Creek Road to Fish Hatchery Road (FS475) free of litter. It doesn’t take long, and it is an easy way to do your part to help keep our forest litter-free!
