The Big Sky Wind Drinkers is a running club for all ages and ability levels. Whether you love running or love to hate running, you’ve come to the right place.

The Big Sky Wind Drinkers is a running club for all ages and ability levels in Bozeman, Montana. We are a family-friendly, non-competitive group that meets with the purpose of fitness, support, and fun. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been running for years or taking your first running steps. We welcome runners, walkers, joggers, strollers, meanderers, ramblers, dashers… we welcome YOU! Explore the site, learn what we’re all about, and contact us with any questions you might have. It's our first Winter Fun Run!

Come out for our traditional Bon Appetite Run this Saturday, Oct 10, at the Rendezvous Dining Hall at Montana State (meet outside the north entrance to the dining hall). We'll be meeting up at 9 a.m., so we have time to get in after the run before they close up breakfast at 10:30 a.m. (Bring $12 in cash or card for the all-you-can-eat meal).

The Indoor Track night will be at 4:30 p.m. (thank you Bozeman Track Club and MSU for allowing us access to the amazing new Kennedy-Stark Athletic Center). New this year, Cocoa, Coffee and Carbs will be a fun tour of local coffee shops by foot! And as always, we'll kick off the New Year with the Fat Ass 50K, which is a backyard ultra-style looped course at Missouri Headwaters.

We had a great end-of-season potluck at the Bozeman Senior Center last night! Thanks to all who came. This summer we hosted 638 runners at 21 fun runs across the valley and awarded three scholarships to local high school students. Thank you to our VPs who operate each fun run and make them possible.

We have a few fun volunteer positions to fill, if you know of anyone who fits the bill, DM us or email [email protected]

Treasurer—someone good with numbers who can balance our books! We have a fantastic current treasurer who can train you up.
Fun run mailer—night before each fun run we need someone to write up and send a reminder email to our mailing list.
VPs—our fun run race directors. A great way to dip your toes into race directing and all runs are open to creativity.
Baldy Blitz RD—we’re looking for someone to take over this amazing spring race. Some experience required but easy to learn the ropes.

The Winter Fun Run schedule just dropped! Whether you're planning to stay in shape for a spring race, or simply want to meet up with a friendly group of active folks this winter, all ages and abilities we welcome to our lineup of fun runs. Winter fun runs are rain, snow or shine, start at 10 a.m. and include 1, 3 and 5-mile courses. Thanks to all our vice presidents for making these events happen! ALSO tomorrow is our end-of-summer potluck! Come by the Bozeman Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 30 with a dish to share. If you're new to the area and looking for ways to get involved in the running community, we'd love to meet you.

It's the Outlaw Brewing fun run! Our course will start at 6:30 p.m. from the brewery and follow 1, 3 and 5 mile course of gravel tail and sidewalk. Please try and carpool or park in the neighborhoods or WinCo lot so as to be kind to Outlaw's space. Hope to see you there!

This week's fun run will take place at the Story Mill Park. Meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16th, at one of the pavilions in the park, just look for our Big Sky Wind Drinkers sign.

Help needed — If you are interested in helping keeping the Wind Drinkers running (pun intended) please consider becoming a board member. We are looking for some VPs and/or fun run directors. Even if you are available for one fun run we want you to come and join the Wind Drinker team! Sharing for our friends over at Montana State University! The MSU Staff Senate will host its Mountains & Miles 5K tomorrow, Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m. to raise funds for the Staff Senate scholarship. Registration is $35 and includes an event T-shirt (additional shirts available for $20).

Drinking Horse is this week's fun run, Wednesday, Sept. 9! Meet in the Drinking Horse parking lot at 6:30 p.m., and choose your route: Drinking Horse, the M trail, or on the asphalt trail along the road, depending on your mood.

Mark your calendars for our annual end-of-summer potluck on Sept. 30 at 6:30 at the Bozeman Senior Center. We'll vote on new board members, enjoy food and hand out participation awards.

Join us this year for the 49th John Colter Run out at Missouri Headwaters State Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. The Colter Run is approximately 7.0-miles long on beautiful, but rugged prairie trails. Learn a bit about the local fur trapper, and the journey he endured in 1809. With a 50 caliber Hawkins black powder r***e start and two river crossings it's a fun, end-of-summer race for the whole family. Registration fills up every year, so jump in soon!

Our first September Fun Run is here. This Wednesday, we'll run around Hyalite Reservoir. Join us in the day-use area parking lot at 6:30 p.m. and as always there will be 1-, 3-, and 5-mile distances available. Hope to see you there!
