Suffer Out Loud

Suffer Out Loud Suffer Out Loud is a nonprofit organization leading an effort to reduce su***de rates in Montana. We reach our community through social media and our blog.

We are not mental health professionals and do not provide direct support to members of our community. Our goal is to connect people to credible resources that address mental health issues and illnesses. We are creating a positive community that believes in a better tomorrow. We sponsor events that promote education and awareness. Please view the events tab to see what we have going on. We invest i

n the resources we promote. Proceeds from our retail sales will go directly to the resources that our community needs.

❓True or False: Su***de rates are highest during the cold, dark winter months.

False. They’re at their highest RIGHT NOW (April-June).

Su***de is complex, but most of the time, someone at risk of su***de displays at least one warning sign.

Here are a few warning statements and behaviors, plus steps to take if you’re worried about someone in your life. Su***de risk is greater if a behavior is new or has increased, and if it seems related to a painful event, loss, or change.

💙 If one or more of these warning signs apply to you or someone you know, it’s ok to ask for help! Please talk to someone as soon as possible–you don’t have to figure it out alone. 💙

Let’s hear it for our furry friends! 🥰

Science confirms: interacting with pets:

✨increases oxytocin
✨decreases cortisol
✨lowers blood pressure
✨reduces loneliness
✨provides feelings of peace

Even if you can’t own one, being around someone else’s pet or visiting a shelter can boost your mental wellbeing!

Have you noticed the positive impacts animals have on you?

So many people are smiling while inside they’re going through hell. 💔

It’s good to remember we don’t know the whole story—and everyone deserves some extra compassion and kindness in this life.

It’s time we debunk some common myths about su***de.

False narratives cause delays in care, lead to the downplaying of risks and warning signs, and reinforce harmful stigmas.

When we learn and share the facts 🧠, we can save more lives.

There are more people than we realize who are fighting just to make it through the day.

Your smile and appreciation, your kindness, your understanding…they might be the very things that keep someone going.

Let’s be the thread that holds others up.

✨THINGS TO REMEMBER✨

• Rest is a requirement, not a reward.

• Not all days are productive, or go according to plan. It’s ok to try again when you’re feeling up to it.

• Hard seasons come for everyone. They will pass, too.

• It’s totally normal to make mistakes. We all do!

• Life and growth doesn’t follow a set path. You aren’t falling behind anyone.

• Your accomplishments don’t make you a worthy person. Just being here and being YOU is enough.

Save this post for the tough days when you need the reminders! 💛💛💛
