Khumbu Climbing Center This foundation carries on Alex's spirit of adventure. Based in Bozeman, Montana, the ALCF has 501(c)(3) status and donations are tax-deductible.

An Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation project - KCC Mission Statement: To increase the safety margin of Nepali climbers and high altitude workers by encouraging responsible climbing practices in a supportive and community-based program. Alex Lowe was not only one of the great alpinists of his time, he was also a man who had a remarkable impact on many of the people indigenous to the high mountain regions where his expeditions took him. Alex was blessed with many unique gifts including the ability to climb the world's most challenging peaks, and the capability to connect with, and love, the people he met in some of the most remote areas of the world. His sheer enthusiasm for adventure and compassion for the difficult lives led by these people stands as a continuing inspiration for those who knew and admired Alex. Tragic Incident in the Phortse Area

On October 6, the body of a Chinese female trekker was found between Phortse Thenga and Tasinga after she took a shortcut trail and fell approximately 250 meters from a cliff.

KCC instructor Lhakpa Gyaljen Sherpa and gym manager Danuru Sherpa assisted in recovering and bringing the body from the cliff on October 7 in close coordination with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and local government authorities.

We sincerely thank our instructors for their courage and dedication, and KCC General Manager Kunsal Sherpa for coordinating with the concerned authorities throughout the recovery process.

Our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

We strongly encourage all trekkers to use on designated trails and follow local safety guidance while traveling in the mountains.

Many of our KCC instructors and graduates are currently in the mountains across the Himalayas, leading trips and guiding expeditions, including on Everest. We wish them all safe climbing.
